Exactly. I don't know about the SOAD references, but I agree with your take on it. Where Are You seems like listening to another promosquad clip - it's like little parts of a song chopped up, rearranged and thrown together. The clips could seemingly be arranged into a song, but as it stands it's just a jumbled mess. There's too many hooks one right after the other, with nothing of any substance to hold them up.
