Looks like that's what she says. Unless you're not someone.
I got a job. W00t. I'm going to gain so much weight this summer working in my favorite restaurant. I get to serve too, yay! I'm not really sure why I'm excited...because it's work. Working stinks. But if ya gotta work...then hey.

I got to remain employed another day. With so many people working for the company, you can't really give out gifts to everyone. Next year I'll get a 10 year service plaque, lapel pin, and a silver name tag. It's not much at all, but I think it will be cool to be one of the youngest managers around with a 10 year name badge. I think you get put in the company magazine for 10 year service. Or maybe it's 20. I can't remember.

I was hired as a cart pusher in 1996. I pushed carts until June 1999. From June 1999 to September 2001 I was a sales clerk in the sporting goods department. From September 2001 to March 2002 I was sporting goods department manager. In March 2002 I stepped down to being a sales clerk in sporting goods again. In March 2003 I was promoted to night support manager. In November 2003 I was promoted to manager trainee through February 2004. In March 2004 I was promoted to hardlines assistant manager, and transferred to Big Stone Gap, VA. In May 2004 I was transferred to Jefferson City where I was homelines, food, homelines and food, and homelines assistant manager again until March 2005. Last month I was transferred to Knoxville, TN as night assistant manager. And now you know the rest of the story. Kind of.

How I envy you. lol I can't wait until next summer and the prospect of going overseas for 3 weeks. If I could go for the whole summer I would.
that's pretty good though Matt, are you on salary as a manager, or do you get hourly wage? And how far down the totem pole are you? Like is there a huge hierarchy with Walmart?

I am salaried. As far as rank, my order of promotion would go assistant manager> co-manager> store manager> distirct manager> regional vice president> divisional vice president. From there I get lost on how things go. There are other options too. From assistant manager I could go to district loss prevention supervisor, or special division district manager, home office buyer, etc. There are tons of positions I can work towards, depending on what I want to do or try for. My current goal is district manager. They generally oversee 5-8 stores.

well i don't think you'd envy me if you've never been away from your house for more than three weeks!

Yes I would. lol I had never been away from home for more than a week and in grade 8 I applied to do a 3 month exchange in France. The only think that stopped me was my desire to play hockey and I had to choose between france and hockey. Not to mention since going away to school I've usually gone 2 month stretches without going home. The fact is that eventually you're gonna have to get out on your own, and what better way to do it than experience a whole other country and culture.
