what's that you want to neck with OLP in the WOODS. :P

I think after the FLorida shows and the show Raine is doing with Chantal they are done till the new year.. Whether they do more USA dates is unknown> They did say they were going on the road for at least a year for this cd. They also said they wanted to play UK and Europe..

I say they would do a Canadian Tour in WINTER> It would not truly be winter in Canada unless OLP tour for a new CD. LOL>

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

A year huh? I hope I get to see them within the year of touring.

Then they can start working on their 8th studio album. And if there's a big of a gap as their was between Gravity/Healthy or Healthy/Burn Burn, I say we get an EP on unreleased songs from a specific time period of the band's work (Naveed, Clumsy, Happiness/Spiritual Machines/Gravity, Healthy/Burn Burn or any variation of that).

Okay, that won't happen. But it should.

I think the year thing might expand if they plan on hitting europe some and canada. They've stretched out the US tour so much, they kind of have to expand the tour.

Yesterday in the interview with Raine that Gail posted the link to he said they'd be on tour until at least the end of the summer. He said they have a few shows around Christmas and then in Feb or March they'll start touring in Canada and then head back to the US.
“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

Warning: Never believe OLP when they talk about release dates/times for albums. They're either extremely off or just don't happen (the supposed 2006 album of mainly Healthy leftovers).

I think OLP are going to go the way of music now that alot of artist have been doing. This is one of the reasons the recording industry will soon be extinct..

Where you use to have single, album, tour wait a few years and start the same cycle again. Bands are now turning to the internet and EP's. Where you had to wait years for new music, a song can be recorded and uploaded to awebsite in a few days. I think in early interviews Raine mentioned this.. This seems to be the wave of the future. On one hand that is great but on the other( at least for me) it is a sad death. I loved the feeling of buying an artist's new album then cd. Now it is download. Yes you get music faster and more frequent but I feel it also takes away the feeling you have of having a piece of music in your hands. The physical copy. Call me old fashion but I stll remember the days of buying a record, a cd.. Those days my friends are dying.. You do not even get physical singles( 45's) anymore..

it doesn't even bother me to be honest, I like the anticipation for a new OLP album.
I mean OLP have been my fav band for alittle over 11 years now, and personally as long as they keep doing what they're doing and making amazing music idc if it takes a month a year or three.

I also like to go out and buy the actual cd or record, idk maybe it's because music is a part of who i am but to me it just makes the release so much more exciting to have it in your hands.

that's also why when i buy concert tickets i get the physical ticket..i HATE the print at home ones . I like to have my tickets.

The neat thing a lot of bands are doing now, though, is packaging a digital download with an actual physical component. The idea being that hopefully by catering to both the need for acquiring music instantaneously and the desire for a physical product, it'll bring back the idea of music being something tangible. If you bought the new Jack's Mannequin record online last year as a digital download, you were not only able to download the record on the night of the release, but they also shipped you this beautiful hard copy, full colour book with photos, lyrics, and the like. It doesn't replace the experience of going to a store and buying an album, I know, but it's a start.

And so this post isn't completely void of OLP related discussion, I agree that one would be wise to hold their excitement for new music anytime soon.

Idk, OLP might follow with that...

Although one of the main supporters of digital releases (even going as far to say that they hate CDs), Radiohead, announced that their next album will in fact be a full album and will be released as a CD as well. Before this it was being pretty much assumed that they'd be an online EP band.
