I thought the problem was more people taking tablets and part of the drug then being excreted into the water supply rather than people just binning the tablets.

That is mentioned in the article as well, but apparently people throw out old pills. I presume that flushing them is the easiest way to keep them out of a childs hands.

You're meant to take them back to a pharmacy - that's what mine say on them. I don't think I've ever done that though.

We just let all our old pills sit around in the house forever.

Yeah you're supposed to take them to a pharmacy for proper disposal. Unfortunately I've never done that. And my cabinet is full of prescription bottles... some old, some new (hhmmm even some borrowed and some blue) :freak:

I only have white ones. sooooo boring. I wish I was in the US. Then I could have had pink ones and blue ones :(

Not for the things I have to take :(

In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a non-white pill except for the vitamin D I took for a while and that was kind of icky brown.

Who throws out birth control pills? I only toss the pink placeholder ones because I can't be bothered to take them.

but the pink ones are placebos! i can't bring myself to take a certain pill at a certain time when i know fully well that it does absolutely nothing. it just seems like doublethink to me.

yeah me too. But I've had this discussion with friends and they all say if they skipped the placebos they'd forget to take the pills the following week after breaking the daily habit.

i get all freaked out around the time of day i'm supposed to take them. throwing a pill out instead of taking it is schedule enough for me

  I think I used to do that with them, too. Remembering to throw them out was enough to make me... still forget. I never remembered to take those stupid things.

That's really strange. The colors/shapes are that way for a reason! How can you be sure you're taking the right pill?

so, I guess you can't divide your pills by colour and size.... just size

:P
