Ok, I never said men are emotionless> I also know there is a disease as such men feel they need to look bigger. What I said was that they don't DIE from it. Never said there was no problem or anything. And I know how to spell horomone, I just mispelled it because I type fast and don't always catch my mistakes. What I said, and if you read it again you will see, that women tend to be more emotional. I never said guys weren't and girls aren't horny. But because they have this hormone(it also has to do with mother instincts) women tend to be more emotional.
men die from using steriods so that isnt entirely true. as well the incidence of eating disorders is on the rise in men. we live in a society that is obsessed with image.

"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

Axtech wrote:actually, if you want to get technical, they die from malnutrition, not from their disorder (which is the overwhelming compulsion to be skinny). Malnutrition is simply the vehicle by which they try to attain their goal of being skinny. Same with drugs and the goal of being muscular.
I know what the disorder is, and it is not always malnutrition that is the killer. But what I was saying, was that there is no injection of foreign things in your body. Drugs and malnutrition are different. In that case, it would be the workout in comparison to malnutrition. If you wanted to compare steriods to something, you would have to use ipecac.

I don't understand your point anyways. How is it any different? Both are putting their bodies and lives at risk in order to obtain a goal driven by a disorder that is caused by social pressure.
The only difference between the two is that women are more often subject to the social pressures that cause the disorder.

Because anorexia and bulimia have an extreme percentage of death rates. It is the pure disorder that causes it, not the drugs. You take away they people who use cocaine, ipecac, speed, etc and the people who use steriods, the ana/mia's reign over death rates. They still do even without taking the drugs out. The point was that women are the majority of people who get killed with these disorders, and thats why it was women and body image
just to clear something up it isnt a compulsion to be skinny nor is it an issue of body image, those are symptoms of the disease. What causes the disease in most cases in the need to control.
