I couldn't disagree with you more. There is ALWAYS good music out there. You just have to get off your ass and look for it.

I found out today that a guy I used to work with killed himself at the end of last year. He was a year older than me I think and had been married for about 6 or 7 years and his wife had had a baby girl just 6 weeks beforehand. Everyone who knew him is really shocked. It's so totally unexpected. :(
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

How about the simple fact that you're a fucking moron whose definition of good music is retardedly limited and fucking stupid?

How about none? There is no evidance that says that downloading has caused any significant damage to the music industry at all. There are fluxuations in the market at all time and people are looking for a suitable reason for it. They blamed downloading. (Which may or may not have actually had an effect) but the truth is, no one can prove they lost anything. When you actually look at todays current market you'll see that a higher emphasis has been placed on video games and a lot of DVDs are expensive. Wouldn't it make sense that when people buy a ton of movies they just don't have any money to buy overpriced cd's as well? Or maybe its the fact that the music industry is pumping out a lot of shit and no one wants to pay for it anymore. Maybe napster is to blame for all the industrys problems, but I know I'm not going to buy Brittneys cd, and its not because I downloaded it.

that's my thesis :P i still need a number though.
and yeah, there's always good music out there, it may not be readily available but it's definately floating around. and things are better today than they were a few years ago when the spice girls and BSB were ruling the charts.

it's...ok. i've come to actually hate the book, after having to analyze it to hell and back in class, but..initially, i thought it was alright. probably worth giving a read over, if you have nothing better to read.

I swear every single person in my English class read that book for their ISP last semester. That turned me off reading it. :uhh:

I'm not talking about the indie scene or any of that crap but straight up pop, top 40 over played radio bullshit.
Nothing new has happened in pop music recently, and when something did (like Usher) sales went up. Like they did in 2004.
And you can argue that there is always good music you just have to look for it, but the biggest sellers arn't generally the bands that people have to dig to find. The masses will want whatever is handed to them and right now what they are getting is crap. Eminem has released the same album for the umpteenth time now, and brought along his gang of clone rappers called G-Unit and 50 Cent. And then there are the pop tarts that have slacked off the past couple of years and instead of actually trying to make decent music they would rather be scandelous and marry a new guy every week. Not to mention the fact that American Idol new has been forcing us to listen to the horrible creations that America voted on. I mean, Clay and Fantasia? Honestly, does anyone actually listen to them? I thought this was just a big national joke. People who win Karoyke contests arn't supposed to get record deals let alone signing up the top 3 contestants from the last 3 seasons.

After thinking about that, can you really blame North America for not wanting to buy cd's?

Reza, heres the big link that you'll want. Its a 50 something page article from Harvard that turned a few heads last year. Its their proof that downloading doesn't take away from album sales. There are lots of articles on the web about what this says so if you don't want to read the whole thing, google it and they'll give you the major points.

Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything

Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

Well, that's the wonderful thing about books. There's always something better to read. As soon as I read the rest of The Work and The Glory's, it's onto re reading Harry Potter to prepare for Half Blood Prince!
