I never even knew there was on for this song b/c matt supposedly hates this song. What I would do to get much back all day instead of for only a hour and 1/2.
ok the "fuck off" part sounds band when they say "all off". damn censorship
He hates the video too. Definitely not up to his usual high standards.

i was just listening to euphony, and realized theres a big fat jack kerouac allusion in it. "if i was on the road, jack, when i got home i would burn that car right down to the ground." and the whole "beat poet's nightmare."
i just find it really interesting how olp and matt good kinda parrallel each other in the content or even theme of their lyrics, yet theres the whole matt good anti olp thing.

I've noticed that too... I'm gonna try to remember all the ones I've found.. gah, can't remember any except for in I, The Throw Away: "...as I push against gravity..."

I'll post 'em as I remember 'em
On a completely different note, am I the only one who is deeply saddened/disturbed by the second last line of Truffle Pigs "Jenn, I'll bring them to their knees."

That line is brilliantly empassioned. And a reccurring theme.
I suppose you could compare "Innocent" with "Anti-Pop". But that would be ironic...

I think this should explain a lot, written by Matt:
Hey guys. A little insight, and please don’t take any direct offense to this as generality is employed throughout.
The reasons for closing the board were various. First of all, as things start to gear up with the new record and single, the media was bound to start trolling the board and I really don’t need the hassle of various individuals inventing asinine stories about me or the music that I end up getting questions about. And before you think that’s ridiculous, let me just say that it’s happened before, so my fears are founded. Because the board is deemed “official” the press usually loves to take dirt from it and use it to their advantage. These days such places are top two resources for media information. This has also happened before, back when The APA was considered official by many. There is also the factor of idiots that just have far too much time on their hands and who love nothing more than to be a nuisance because they’re starved for attention. And I think we all know who those people are (naming names of course is pointless as it’s what they live for). I also have to say that I’m not all fond of a lot of the people who spend a great deal of time on the boards talking about completely irrelevant things. Idle minds are playgrounds of disaster and a lot of the time those people are responsible for situations that end up causing a lot of problems that can be reflected back on me. The treatment of first time posters, for example, is such a problem. That board existed so that fans could communicate, not so people who have been fans for a long time, and are perhaps a wee bit too obsessive about what I do, can berate them because they want to know something simple. If society worked that way it would be in ruins, so I don’t really see why it is internet message boards tend to. But the fact that it does ends up with people sending me e-mails saying that they were turned off because of their experience. And that’s just not cool by me.
The second reason would have to do with pictures posted on the APA not too long ago. Some of those pictures were of the inside of my house, and in one you could make out some rather recognizable buildings that, if you spend some time trying, could basically help you figure out where I live. Now, I didn’t give anyone permission to post those pictures, and before they were posted no one stopped to think that I already have a problem with someone who has psychological problems that could have easily found out where I live because of those pictures (I currently dwell where I do because I was forced to move because of that problem). The last time “said person” found out my location they broke into my building. So the posting of those pictures endangered not only myself, but Jennifer as well, and there is no way in hell I will allow that. But it made me realize that relationships made with younger people, fans if you will, can be dangerous because they take things very personally and have a lot to learn about life and how it works. The minute they come up with some paranoia about their situation or relationship with or to you, spite and irrationality often take over where reason should usually kick in. And I realized that if such things could endanger my family then any outlet that could lead to it should be terminated immediately. Because I can’t think for those people out there that choose not to and go ahead with doing something that could end up causing me or Jennifer harm or the inconvenience of having to move again or take precautions when we go out. I don’t deserve that. Making music does not mean that you become a prisoner. There is also the reality that my persona as an artists attracts a lot of young people that do their very best to be like that persona. And if that persona is “asshole”, well then you can figure out what they become.
Lastly, I’m tired of trying to interact with people only to have it thrown back in my face. Now I fully realize that on such boards I am the topic of conversation, but it perplexes me to no end when such a presence creates a rift in people. Because of some insecurity or desire to be liked, some people will act harshly so that it seems they are not kiss asses, and some will be overly nice in an attempt to attract attention. The thing of it is, it’s the people in the middle who do neither that are the ones worth listening to and communicating with. Because they don’t need a definition of who they are to simply interact with people. It is, after all, the internet which means we’re all the same on some level. If someone believes that I consider myself better than everyone or demeaning, then that’s their belief, I can do nothing to change it. I find it funny though that a lot less comprehension takes place and a lot of disregard for information does. Take that into account when you read the next internet argument and realize that those involved aren’t usually trying to make a point, but have their point stand out and be theirs.
As for the track listing, try and follow me because there was a method to my madness. When AOB got leaked we thought the best thing to do was to make a big deal about it because it would provide us with a lot of information. And, of course, it did. We got e-mails from people who were mad that I got upset and gave us clues and from people trying to help. Because of those reactions we found the site, found out who the guy was, where the leak took place, and most importantly discovered that the very same site also offered child pornography (which we let the police handle). So the very same tactics were employed and everyone involved with me knew full well what was being done. In doing so we discovered some things and have now come to the conclusion that my home computer was hacked and either my e-mail or my real media player were tampered with. Because the truth of the matter is that some of that listing was accurate. And, more importantly, in order. No one could have known that. Not even the four people I let listen to random tracks (out of order) on a cd without a track listing in a jewel case without a track listing. It’s been proposed that someone close to me could have leaked it but that’s just youthful wishful thinking. Besides myself and Rich, only the record company and my management have copies. And if either were to undertake such a thing it would quickly result in the loss of their jobs. Now I don’t know if kids realize this, but when you’re 36 you’re usually fond of a job and wouldn’t risk it by leaking a track listing to salivating teens. People are usually sloppy in situations such as this and often brag about things or drop hints that give them away. Such occurrences have taken place already and steps will be taken to figure some things out. But the fact that my online presence could have opened me up to an attack of that kind is also something I have to consider.
Anyway, that’s about it. Paul has the rest in order I would think. This particular community has survived a lot longer than most and I really hope you guys aren’t inundated with people that cause problems. As for me, this inaugural post, be it second hand, will also serve as my farewell. My best to everyone. Cheers.
I'm not suprised things got shut down if a stalker is threatening his family.

...then when panic gets you feeling well, you damn well better stop. You can drive it into that head of yours with that hammer in your heart.....
It's odd that Matt Good is the only artist that has problems interacting on the internet. I guess Matt Good fans are unique in this creepy little way.
And defying, what does your avatar say now?

I think it's probably because Matt gives the fan so much access. Can you name any other prominent artist who reguarly posts on a message-board?
As for the avatar it is a scary Radiohead minotaur as in:

actually, to answer ur question, i think moby keeps some kind of internet diary posting thing.
but matt's reasons for the board closing seemed more than justifiable, stalking is some freaky shit, my own family had a similar problem last year so i can relate to his disgust at whoever posted pictures of his house. that is pretty damn scary...

kinda off topic but, the Jennifer he speaks of is this the same one from his book, Jenni's Song, and i'm assuming Truffle Pigs? Just wondering cause i thought he never met that Jenni again

That is Jennifer of "Jenni's Song", "Trufle Pigs" and his short story "The Night Opus".
And CitrickAzid an internet diary isn't really the same thing - most artists have this. Matt was talking personally with fans - answering questions etc.

He's married to the Jenn? Wow.. I got the impression from the Night Opus that they went their separate ways.
