But jay-z's actually talented, couldn't he elevate their level?
I saw the single, I liked it...though I haven't bothered listening to the cd yet. I'm bad that way. It takes me forever to sit down and listen to something.
I finally heard the whole Maroon 5 cd for the first time just a week ago...(sorry Nikki, still don't like them).

he just goes into the recording booth and free-styles all of his songs on the spot. he just listens to the beat a little bit before going in there. i'm not into the genre at all...but you have to respect his talent.

Isn't talent actually planning out words that have meaning and will have an effect on the listener?

Yes Rusty, there is exactly one kind of lyrical talent.

I suppose you could say he's talented at what he does. However, in the opinion of a lot of people, what he does isn't worth doing.
I used to like linkin park, from a musical standpoint (ignoring the fact that they completely rip off their fans) And I think these songs, of the ones that I've heard before hand, were much better before they added Jay-Z. Maybe it's just because I prefer whiney lyrics to things like "i got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one!"

99 Problems makes me laugh. I like Linkin Park and I thought the album was neat. It's by no means a musical masterpiece, but to each their own eh?
