How is using debt as a reason to live at home stupid? I live within easy access of the school, have someone to cook good meals for me, do my laundry, etc, and I don't have to pay a dime to live here. Frankly, with the position that I'm in, it would be rather rediculous to consider spending twice as much on my education just so I can live in a tiny little room with someone else.

I'm not really sure why it's that way, maybe it won't be for you. But it is for me. Besides, I know lots of people who don't live at home and are not in debt.

i'm with rob, i live at home and go to school and i would never ever live in a dorm. they are so gross and tiny and eewwww. i don't need much, but i do need my own room, air conditioning, and a non community bathroom. oh, and no cafeteria food. i've been to the U of M dorms and MSU dorms and both have sucked balls, so there is NO WAY i would ever pay THAT much money to live in a cramped space like that. i have already met SOO many awesome people from college and i haven't even started yet. awhile ago i THOUGHT i wanted to have the whole "college experience", but after visiting friends at both places i've changed my mind.

EDIT: also, the money issue. i don't know who is paying for all of your guys' colleges, but i know that i don't want to be in debt when i graduate, and i won't be because of living at home. i'd much rather leave college debt free than with a couple of more friends that i might talk to once or twice out of college. and besides, if i ever wanted to party or experience "college parties" and stupid shit like that, i can always go visit my friends at college and guess what? it's FREE.

I lived at home during my 4 years of college. I did it mostly because of debt. I didn't want to owe a crapload of money after I graduated. I spent $13,000 dollars roughly on 4 years of education, and I paid for every penny of it except for $1,000. 4 months after I graduated, I was able to move out on my own and not have to worry about loans to repay. Plus I was within a reasonable commuting distance.

If you can afford to live on campus and get the benefit of living mostly on your own, do it. Learning to cohabitate with others and being responsible for yourself is an important lesson to learn as any. Plus it's the last chance you'll get to go crazy before venturing into the real world. *shrugs* Do whatever you think works best for you.

It's probably just my school, but only like 300 students lived near or on campus, so going to "party" with them wasn't an option. My room and bathroom here, I share it with one girl. That's less than I had to at home, minus the bedroom, but my bedroom is huge and not that expensive. I have three closets, I also have air conditioning. Dorms are ass though, I try to stay away from those.

Loans are only like 50 bucks a month after you graduate. That's not going to make it so I can't move out.

So, he's going to suck his own ass? That'd be quite the show.

Speaking of show... I think I know who the secret concert is going to be. Rumour has it that it's going to be Sum 41, and our Gaels admitted that it is a punk/punk-rock band.

Then again, last year everyone thought it was either Coldplay or Radiohead, and it turned out to be Matt Good and Pilate.

I don’t know but I’ve been told
FYNIRS bleed red, blue, and gold!
I don’t know but it’s been said
Nothing good can come from rez!
My shower shines, my toilet’s clean!
Two dozen kids share your latrine!
I’ve got my beer, got my KD!
Don’t got no don to harass me!
Sound Off! F-Y-N!
Sound Off! I-R-S!
Bring it on down now!
F-Y-N-I-R-S! FYNIRS!

Just one of the many cheers from two days of FYNIRS orientation.

While we cheered, the rezzies just stared in a confused "deer in the headlights" way. :P

When are they in Guelph? If it's the 10th (hopefully), we can rule them out as a possibility at Queen's.
