i was at the game, dont have much to say now that its been a day.

i think he should get the rest of the season and a playoff round.

also i dont think that the league should take in consideration the injuries to moore. the punishment should be made on the act itself not on how injured moore is

and i dont think the police has any business getting involved in hockey matters.

Wow, I just saw what happened on the news this morning. All I can say that it was uncalled for. Now, I'm not a hockey fan but, I believe that Bertuzzi should be suspended, not kicked out of the league.

I also heard that the Vancouver P.D is now investigating what happened.

they are investigating what happened, there should be an announcement today if they are pressing charges or not

which in my opinion is waste of taxpayers dollars

They did announce it. I saw it on the news this morning. They only way that the authorities should be involved is "if" and only "If" Moore(?) decides to press charges.

That, I didn't know. The people who charged McSorley ended his career.

i think he should get 20 games.. (which will work out to 7 playoff games) and if the nucks dont last 7 games in the playoffs then the first 8 games of the regular season (regardless of how many playoff games he misses)

im pretty sure thats what happened with tie domi after he nearly took scott neidermayer's head off with that elbow
go fuck yourself.

i think he should be suspended until September 1, 2004. I don't think he should play another minute in the NHL this season, playoffs or not.

i've watched the clip over and over. there is no doubt in my mind that bertuzzi intentionally took the guy down and slammed his head into the ice. i sure can't see him slip on anything.

who knows if the injury was sustained when bert slammed moore's head into the ice or afterwards when the pileup happened? i will say that pile-ups happen in sports all the time and nobody's neck gets broken. regardless, if bertuzzi doesn't jump the guy nothing bad happens.

it was a cheap, dirty hit that has blackened the eye of hockey. if somebody made a case for a lifetime ban, i'd sure listen.

<i>Prior to this morning's hearing, two fans waited along with reporters outside the NHL offices at the Air Canada Centre. One wore a Canucks shirt and hockey gloves with a sign taped to a hockey stick that said "Colin, Ernie says free Bert." The sign had pictures of Muppets Ernie and Bert as well as a Bertuzzi photo, newspaper clipping and hockey card<i>

(this has nothing to do with my opinion on this matter i just wanted to post that)
go fuck yourself.

Well he's feeling remorseful. He was just live, and bawling his eyes out apoligizing. He's no actor.

Yeah man, he was inconsolable.

I think he's gonna get it for the rest of the season, but that's all..........if anything else happens I will be very attentive to this.

"Steve, why'd you have to go unconcious on me!?" Todd Bertuzzi.......

The Rest of the season is expected, and deserved i think. But banned? NO. Investigated? No. He's no actor, and he's a tough guy, but he cried. he meant to hurt him, but not that badly.  not a good situation. at all.

It's a financial issue since the NHL has to protect its star players who attract fans and bring in money for each club.

Sorry, I don't know that much about hockey. Could you explain this a bit more? How does fighting stop the big players from other teams hitting the stars? Because they both get thrown out of the game?

Any professional sport is basically entertainment first. They have to give what the fans want. That's how they make money. Unfortunatly, that also means that people will get hurt because fans like fighting.

i think for his own sake, he needs to sit out the rest of the season. other guys on other teams are gonna kick his ass.

i wouldnt say that, but Colorado is probably not too happy. But it'de be just plain idiotic to do anything, because the league will be watching like a hawk.

what's the league gonna do? fine them? they make millions, what a few thousand dollars? miss a few games, the seasons already over.

if i was a close friend of that guy who got hurt, and i saw bertuzzi or whoever his name is in a game, i'd straight up kick his ass.

He's going to be gone a long time.

The apology was sincere. That being said, this should have no bearing on what he gets.

That was a pre-meditated attack. He stalked Moore for a good 15 seconds before he grabbed him from behind and suckered him. Then he stuck his arm out and guided Moore's face right into the ice. It was brutal.

Moore had already fought Cooke earlier in the game. For all intensive purposes, this should have been over. Naslund had already dismissed Moore's hit as a clean hit. I can respect Bertuzzi for sticking up for his teammate, but not under those circumstances. The "code" had been lived up to, and it should have stopped at that.

I have no doubt that Todd Bertuzzi's a good person at heart, but what he did was just stupid. Brutal.

The league's going to make an example out of him. The press this incident is getting is insane. Hockey's already considered a joke in the US, and the Bertuzzi incident is only hurting it more. Add in the fact that there's a notion that star players shouldn't get away with this kind of stuff, and Bertuzzi's in big trouble.

At the VERY least i'd expect the regular season + the playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a lot more. As bad as it is for hockey (Bertuzzi's is a great player from the head down..), i wouldn't be shocked if he gets a year.

The thing that's getting lost in all of this is Steve Moore. The guy has a fracture of his C3 and C4. I've had a hairline fracture of two of my vertabrae playing hockey, and let me tell you.. it hurt, a lot. I couldn't possibly imagine what a full out fracture would be like. He's got a lot of re-hab on the way. Hopefully he can overcome this.

And if he'd killed him? Would it matter that he didn't mean to hurt him "that badly"?
