this is another travesty of so called "justice". the woman is completely innocent of any and all crimes.

It's amazing how you're the only fucking tool on this board taking this issue seriously. The bottom line is that she lied.......its not all about what she actually "did", that basic charged was dropped.

I recommend seeing Dr. Yeu Kneeduhshrink for some of them pent up issues. Don't fucking tell me I can't laugh at the bitch.

See, that's the thing. She wasn't charged with "insider trading". All of her charges had to do with her lying, conspiring and obstructing justice.

Honestly, Megan, you're another one too. Whenever I try to come off being serious, I'm never trying to be. Yet, you seem to be another one that doesn't take things I say as a joke.

so omg right back at cha :sugar: I could honestly give a flying fuck about Stewart. The woman is gonna serve probably 10-16 months (months, what's the use of sentencing her for?) and most likely 6 of those months will be in a "halfway house" sort of setting. Not even maximum security prison.

you would expect her to be in a maximum security? :freak: she lied. and in between a half way house theirs minimum and medium.

If she gets sent to jail for years, that's just retarded. (I hear 20 years max, but I'm not sure). If she gets that, it's just fucking sad. It's not like she went and killed some one or dealt drugs or some shit.

I hope she goes to jail, just something minimal, not twenty years. She deserves it.

i agree completely

i'm sure there's some actual criminals they should be focusing on rather then wasting their time with this.

Teach her what? Not to lie? Why shouldn't she? The President gets away with it daily.

We can't even keep innocent children from getting raped and murdered, and this is the case that’s enraptured a nation.

I neither like nor hate Martha Stewart. She will not make a blip on the map of my life when it comes down to it. I think she's probably guilty. There are a couple of more things about this whole thing that have made a bigger impact on me than Martha Stewart ever will though.

Keep in mind this is all opinion, and I will admit that while I know the case for the most part, I do not know it exceptionally well. I rarely watch the news, it generally makes me sick.

The whole investigation stinks. I don't think they had enough evidence to prove their case. It seemed as though the main source was a person who was quite possibly doing any or all of the following:

saving his ass by testifying
basking in his 15 minutes of fame
getting revenge on people he didn't like all that much

And the circumstantial facts that supported his story.

These kinds of cases are the reasons that the 'powerful people' get away with various crimes. They're usually full of loopholes. OJ's case was better than this.

All that aside, it's a product of our legal system. Good or bad it's the only system we have.

What got me about this whole thing (and it often does when it comes to celebrities in the media) is how quickly everyone condemns her or makes fun or her or just generally joins in the bashing.

I think I can say with certainty that no one here knows Martha. No one has the faintest clue if she's a good person or a bad person (what the hell defines that anyway) but yet people will say she deserves to rot in hell. And so what if she thinks she’s better than some people? Who really cares?

It’s just all energy people waste in hating people they will never know or be directly effected by is insane. If they took that and directed it into making themselves a better person, or doing something for someone else can you imagine what a difference it would make.

Can you imagine if every person threw their 2 bucks into the cancer research box instead of using it to buy a rag magazine and finding out who hates who and who’s sleeping with who this week?

Yeah it sounds preachy, and I’m not going for a guilt trip or an ‘I’m right, your wrong argument’. After all you’re entitled to love or hate Martha as much as I think it’s a shame that people react this way.

It’s just something to think about…

it's wasted funds. since she was being a bitch about this, she should spend time in jail, and should not be allowed to hold any stake in a public corporation ever again. that's just if i were running things, in case you haven't noticed, i dislike rich snobs who think they can get their way all the time. (see sports bitching thread)

being a bitch about this = covering up and obstructing an investigation. there are legal ways to obstruct searches and seazures, but this woman, had the nerve, to thumb her nose at the court, and the people she screwed over. powerful types like her think they can get away with murder. no, it shouldn't work that way, if your going lie about screing people over, and then in court admit that you did in fact screw them over, then you should be jailed, for a good while. why:

1. because your stupid for taking that defense.
2. because you think everyone is too stupid to notice.

Why did *Martha* go down for this for her mere 40K?

Yeah, I know that's a lot of money to non-Martha types. But out of everything that's happened in the past couple of years, it's pathetic. Others, who knowingly, willingly, stole millions of dollars and let the entire company go dowsn as a result, walked freely, and Ms. Stewart ends up with jail time?

She did lie, and that was wrong. But in the bigger picture, she's just the scapegoat.
