I hate how whenever I say something about OLP people are like, "Innocent is the best song EVER!"

I just roll my eyes and say, "Eh..."

OK, going back to the off-topic idea of an OLP video game... any computer geeks here know how to make a game? Even if it's a crappy one... oh man, that'd be funny to play.  We'd have the aforementioned special moves for those three, and Steve's would (obviously) be death by Stevegasm. 8-) :wtf:

Matt Good and Ian Robinson are the evil sub-bosses!

Anyway, about OLP's music (imagine that :P ), around here, myself and my friends are pretty much the only people I know who have heard their music.

Even if you say to someone "I like Our Lady Peace", they'll say "Who's that?".

In reply, I'd have to say "the guys who sing 'Somewhere Out There'". And they'll go "Ohhh! Are they a new band?"

It really is kinda sickening, but in all honesty I kinda like it that OLP is my own little thing down here. The only thing that boggles me is that Nickleback is pretty big, but they have far worse music and, in my opinion, less catchy music.

why is the suggestion that they are a new band sickening?

I mean, yeah they are musically illiterate but if they have only recently begun to get into top 40 pop culture that shouldn't be surprising. Most bands have been around for a long time before they get a record deal, and many bands do not become sucuess's on their debut album.

You said Nickelback, how many CDs did they have before they came out with Silver Side Up and How you Remind Me? I know many people that thought they were a new band. They even got the best new band juno! Were they a new band? hall no. But still, the fact that people know them today is what matters. Or at least to them.

I believe that when it comes to get best new band at award shows it's based on whether they had ever been nominated at the same award show prior to that year.

I am not even going to ask what that is. When I read this I thought of the Jane Fonda/Milo O'shea film Barbarella. He has an orgasmatonic ray. Yeha I know-but what do you expect . It was one of those movies from the sixies that mixed sex and sci fi. the only reason I ever saw it is because that is where the band Duran Duran got their name from

Fear the mighty Stevegasm!
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

i would consider "making it big" as in becoming a household name, being featured on american magazines and media, and going platinum. Nickelback's "The state" didn't make them huge in america in my opinion, but it did go gold, just as gravity did.
