Sometimes, I have a lucid dream. But the thing is, whenever that happens, I've realized I can only control just one tiny aspect or detail of that dream... I've actually studied myself for, like a month about this a long time ago...

It's kinda like this. Say, I have a dream where I'm walking down a street, and then people jump out of buildings, but they dont fall, they fly. But if I see someone I don't like (for example, last year's English teacher), I can just make her fall to her death. But anyone else can keep flying, and I can't seem to control it.

It's kinda weird, but now that I think about it, it's kinda fun. :)

...and this is me hanging on / i'd burn our initials in the sun if it would shine / anxiety chokes me like razor wire / if hate's in your heart man, you'll take what you're given / wake up / i'm not the only one / it's never goodbye / go ahead and play dead / if everyone's a casualty, then take your time, there ain't no trouble / these wounds they will not heal / ambition can be a tricky thing / what the hell do i know about rape anyway? / this is not what i hoped for / ain't it so weird how it makes you a weapon / who will be there to tell me how stupid i am? / those living for death will die by their own hand / and it's me that I am spying on / pick up the pieces and live with the stars / hurry up and wait / things have never been so swell / they're always the ones who slowly drift / be great / ...and this is my world.

That's extremely common. When one realizes they are dreaming, or that something in the dream can't be real, it triggers the dreamer's conscious state, since the person is linking something with his conscious reality.

I've had a couple of lucid dreams, those things friggin' rule.

I once dreamed that I went through a whole day, and went to sleep; when I woke up I thought it was tomorrow... looking back at that, it sounds kinda incoherent. *shrugs*
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

anyone notice how it can jump from location to location and situation to situation with out it seeming weird? and i agree with Joe, time isn't a factor for me. I can wake myself up which is a useful tool for bad dreams.

Lately i've been having really really real feeling dreams, to the point where i will wonder whether it happened or i dreamed it

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

i thought this was pretty normal. i used to be able to control a lot of deams.. now i dont have dreams anymore, or at least not ones that i can remember. i think it's the lack of sleep.

anyway.... i used to pretty much always know i was dreaming and could control them all the time at least to some extent. My imagination/fear would control a lot of it, and make things happen that i didnt want to, and i'd have to fight back.. it was really fun. i miss them. :(

This thread title reminds me of the AFI song 'No Poetic Device'

I don't have lucid dreams, I just have dreams I absolutely believe are real.

Last night I dreamt I'd lost the lower half of my right leg.

Waking up was very, very nice. :freak: :(

I dreamt that there was going to be a beastie boys concert and since my uncle had "connections" we were all gonna meet them. Which is weird since my uncle works for the post office. :freak:

Anyway, I woke up thinking "Dude! When's the concert?!"

if you want to induce lucid dreaming that you can try to control, i've heard that the best way to do it is wake yourself up earlier in the morning than you would usually wake up, sit around awake for about 45 mins, and go back to sleep. apparently you're body hasn't woken up enough to get out of the lucid dreaming phase of the sleep cycle but will still be in shallow (or whatever the technical name is) sleep so that you'll actually remember your dream entirely and can even control it if you "practice."

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever
