:Johnathan: would you explain please? You know there are alot of bands that people think are the greatest thing since slice bread, yet I don't get it.

I guess to you-you would say I follow OLP Blindly cause I honestly did not have a problem with Gravity. I love some songs, others I didn't really care for. yet overall I liked the CD. As for live it was no different to me from the bootlegs I have. It is just a reminder of thier live shows for me.

I can't explain it with me. I don't really see OLP the way other people do. I support them 100% good or bad. I have come too far and gotten to know them a bit better to really say I hate them now. It is like if you saw your friends play. There may be songs you like, there may be songs you don't like, but you still give support cause they are your friends and you want them to do well> That is how I see OLP.

BTW. There are songs off every OLP CD I rather be removed from the face of the earth then have to hear again.

I also look forward to the new stuff. From what I was told It is suppose to be a bit harder edge then Gravity, maybe back to Naveed days. It won't be a Gravity part 2. Then again I don't have a problem with Bob Rock. I have alot of music he worked on over his career.

BTW, Bob played in a band in the 80's and had some success withthem before becoming a producer.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

I loved Live and still listen to it. I don't think you can compare it to a new album because it's very different. I don't own any other live albums so I can't really compare it to any of those. But I found it to be great. I don't like Gravity as much as the other albums and I rarely listen to it, but Live is very different than Gravity. :)

Question: Could the "recognition they don't deserve" be referring to the Chart poll?

I have a feeling it is with the Chart thing cause thats what I thought of, but to be honest I really didn't see much recognition at all from this whole live thing. Other bands like Coldplay or Avril or even Hillary Duff seem to be doing better with live CD's and DVDs. OLP released 2 singles and I never saw the videos until the DVD. And since the DVD recall I can't say I have heard any news.

I have to say that I have taken a shining to the Live stuff, but that may be because I don't have the hub to get bootlegs. I enjoy listening to it most of the time because its a really good example of their musical abilities and its a full 80 minute CD. I wouldn't necessarily call it a breakthrough because it isn't new music. I also like the DVD because a lot of times in music videos and stuff it seems like the band is holding back a bit, or it isn't about them its about the videos story so its nice to have something focused on the four of them.

I'm glad I went out and bought the CD and the DVD but I wouldn't really call it a musical accomplishment or anything like that. Its a great wrap up and it's something they can call their own without producers and editors and a lot of other peoples opinions that are thrown into CDs a lot of the time. But a live album is just a live album, so there isnt a whole lot more you can say about it.

I follow OLP blindly..........meaning whether they're next CD is good or not I'll still give them a chance and follow what they do. I don't like some songs they do either. The back half of Clumsy isn't all that attractive, Happiness is a little whiny with odd falsetto's, and Gravity was just an under-achievement. The point is, I don't abandon them and start ranting about how they suck shit when I get disappointed.............its very childish and self centred. A lot of people call themselves fans, but are really one dimensional to their own wants.

Precisely what I was thinking.

don't worry guys, you guys are getting in a huge fuss over it, i'm not trying to trash OLP or anything, you guys don't get what i'm talking about but i can't explain untill later. so everyone just get off the defensive, this post was just addressing something i saw awhile back but i can't comment on it, i was just hoping anyone involved would get what i was talking about. Don't sweat it untill later, all i'm asking you guys to do is make sure taht your honest about "live", if the chance arises, and dont just support it blindly because olp is your favorite band

When you are ambiguous people are gonna ask questions. And personally, I don't think you telling people how to enjoy a CD will change their views in any way. I'm wondering why you wrote about Live and us having to be realistic about it???

I think this thread is about space aliens coming down to steal all the copies of "Live", and ClumsyBoy is here as one of their represenatives, to see if we'll ge worked up into a fuss over this; cuz if we don't, they'll do all full on invasion and take over all our crops and ice cream parlors. Well, listen here alien scum... BRING IT ON!!!!
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

I personally feel that Live is a good cd. now, obviously, it isn't as good as a new cd would have been, but you can't expect it to be. I think for a live cd (which it is) it is excellent. It comes very close to capturing the feeling of being at their concerts.

Live is awesome, but you have to realize it is a live album, a greatest hits pretty much. This allows newer fans to see the whole olp spectrum, Also it lets us huge olp fans have another addition to our music collections. IF steve wasnt on it, i dont think i wouldve picked it up though, The dvd is defintly worth it (Non defective one :s) just for steves solo's alone. Im pumped for the new cd, from the sons released that I have heard, if the rest of the cd is like these songs, its gonna kick major ass.
