I've ordered a dragon statue thing for him. Hopefully it will be in next wednesday. If not, I'm off to look for other stores so I can get it to him before the break.

I am curious about this wicca of which you speak. I know little, well next to nothing, about it, though I know and have known people involved with it.

well.... it is a lot to explain. i find the best site for learning about new religions is religioustolerance.org
that will give you a good start on it

basically it's a more modern (ie, circa 1950's) amalgamation of some ancient Pagan religions. Very nice stuff. Love the earth. Do what you want as long as it doesn't hurt anybody. Etc.

Can you reccomend any books? I'm a Barnes & Noble junkie.

Wicca is a very earthy based religion .. nature is it's core. It's all about the powers of the earth itself. The core beliefs of wicca are centered around and within the Earth. Some believe in just one god, some believe in gods and goddesses representing both male and female .. some are considered athesist and just view the God and Goddess as symbols, not living entities. Which is where I closely fit in.
The Wiccan religion claims that there is no evil entity, such as the Christian's Satan .. there's no separating of heaven and hell etc. They way they view the afterlife closest matches my beliefs. It's the only religion I've found any beauty in.
The moral code and what wicca follows is "An it Harm None, Do What Ye Will" So like Alex says, as long as you aren't intentionally harming anything .. people, animals, the earth etc .. do what you want. They also believe that any harm you do, will come back at you threefold .. karma.
Anyway, I'll shut up .. I can go on for hours on wicca
One of my favorite wiccan quotes: "If you take the Christian Bible and put it out in the wind and the rain, soon the paper on which the words are printed will disintegrate and the words will be gone. Our bible IS the wind and the rain."

so your basically a druid?
see this is why i could never devote myself to wholly one religon, but rather take ideology from many diffrent ones and put them together into my own belief. Although Buddhism i could see being a very big part of that belief

No, that's completely different. They have their own separate beliefs and moral codes .. telling someone who's wiccan that they're basically just a druid isn't correct. Two completely different religions.
Go here and the first link compares druidism vs. wicca ..

If anyone tells you they're a "real" Druid you have my permission to laugh in their face. There is no way in bloody hell anyone in the current age would have enough of the ancient knowledge and training required to call themselves anything but a "reconstructed" Druid.

"Anyone who tells you that the Druids "went underground" and that he is part of an unbroken tradition of Druidism has been dreaming or imbibing a bit too much."

Hmmm well after reading up on Taoism, the teachings of Confucius, Buddhism, and a few other Asian religions i also believe in alot of their ideas. Probably because many of them are less preaching and structured and more based on philosphies. Still i doubt i could choose any of them as a religion. Many are still to restrictive. Why would anyone follow the relgious beliefs of another? Should we not design our own? Of course Buddha teaches this and i love the religion for it. I will stay as an individual relgion for now and follow my own beliefs and the beliefs of many relgions, mostly Asian. Who knows maybe sometime when i'm bored i'll sit down and right a few down.....that's how all these relgions start after all, some guy sitting down and writing about his belief.

This whole topic is so funny, because i was just writing an essay on Donnie Darko and i used that web site for a quote. I too was intrigued by the whole idea of Buddhism and was considering looking into it more closely.
Great minds think alike,
As for the statues of Buddha....I worked at tribal voices for a summer and have probably sold more of them than any of you will see in a lifetime.

I was buddhist for a while.
We learned about it in religious school. It all made so much sense, and I decided to get in to it. It was a great experience. The only problem was I had to devote time to school and society, and it was all too much. It's probably something I could pick back up on when I graduate high school and travel the world or whatnot. I still meditate occasionally, I'm just not hard core. But by all means rob, find someone who's really buddhist and get into it. You can learn so much out of the teachings buddha than anything else on this hemisphere.

I wish my school had a religion course.
Other than, of course, my diehard Christian English teacher (that is, my English teacher who is a diehard Christian), who shoved an extra "Bible" unit into the course.

Ahaha, that really sucks. Personally im a Christian but i can understand how much it would suck to have religion forced apon you. Religion of any kind should be a free choice.

"I'm not trying to make you believe this, just to give you some religious literary background." - My teacher, about a month before she came to class dressed as a nun for Halloween, and about a week before "unbiasedly" mocking ancient Greek religions, and completely disregarding the influence of other religious backgrounds on literature.
