I don't think it's fair to label a band sell outs though when they are recognized by a major label and picked up .. I mean you play in a band when you're young and you dream of being big .. it happens, who's gonna turn it down?
I don't think there's much GC can do with the 14 year old's that attach themselves to the band either. It happens to the best of bands.

Joey wrote:well considering benji wrote it because he himself was suicidal .. and i know myself and many others who have suffered from depression or had thoughts of suicide also find comfort in this song .. which is all that matters .. if these so called "cheesy and cliche" lyrics reach even one person, then in my opinion, that means something.
yes you are correct, but i guess i'm just trying to say he's a bad lyricist.
oh and blink 182 owns.

his lyrics are simple that's all .. no beating around the bush and using metaphors or making you think long and hard .. just a basic message .. which in some cases it's better to get your message across straight and simple ..
you can't possibly say benji writes bad lyrics and then write blink 182 owns in the same sentence

you have heard most of blinks lyrics right?

lol just because i think a band owns doesn't mean i think they're like musician gods. they were just apart of my childhood, therefore i think they 'own' by default.

I saw it, and to be blunt I was not impressed.
It had been done and was pretty cliched.
I agree with what they are doing and everything but it didn't move me or anything.

I saw it too but I actually liked it. Even though it is kinda cliched it does get a message across...which some kids really need to hear. I want to see the vid again, but Much doesnt seem to want to play it when I watch.

Well, if someone who is depressed, or has had feelings of depression or has thought about suicide is moved by this video, that's all that matters .. people who don't understand those feelings, just won't get it .. or someone who hasn't woken up and wanted to die may not feel the same way towards the video .. it sounds like it's reaching a few people so i'm happy about that.

ABout the song:
video = good
song = terrible
the song is just horrible. For what could be such an extremely emotional song is just a stereotypical GC song slowed down and quieted down a bit.

I agree with you. I'll admit, the video is great and when that mother says that she'll be waiting for Monday for the rest of her life, I cried my eyes out. I mean, hell, what else would you expect from the gy who directed "Smells like Teen Spirit"? But, the song is basically like any other GC song ... useless.
Plus, whenever I hear it I think back to the concert, where they fed the audience this bullshit about how they cared about each and every one of us and blah blah blah, only to not even come out and sign shit later. If they cared, wouldn't they want to make the day (or rather year) of one their fans by signing a picture, or taking one for that matter? I don't know.
And, they're really crappy live, which kind of ruins things.
