I don't give money directly to beggars. I do pay my tithing though (ten percent of all money you make), and my church donates lots of money to those organizations.

Exactly, but it's so hard to know which ones are real and which ones aren't.

Every time i'm in Detroit it's a guarantee to run into at least 5 beggars when you go. I've encountered many a sad beggar, a lot of them without certain limbs, strangely. Anyway, I don't give them money usually, because I'm scared of them.

I'm not a fan of giving out money, but whenever my friend and I go to Toronto we take a bunch of different kinds of sandwiches for anyone who really needs food.

i was standing outside the magic stick in detroit with my friend mike and this one-armed guy comes up to us and hes like "please help a brother out, I AIN'T GOT NO ARM MAN!" whereupon he shows us that he has no left arm by shoving the stump in our faces

I've encountered the legless man. He pushes himself around in a wheelchair.

I always feel compelled to give these people money, and they fucking know it. They always come up to me first, and I always give them a dollar or two, just because they're pretty homeless and legless and all. I would give them food, but I don't tend to go to the Magic Stick or the State Theatre with sandwiches or anything, so I give them some money and hope they don't piss it away on liquor.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I never give money to beggars. I feel no guilt (maybe I should - I don't know), but after I see one, I always wonder what could have happened to them that they feel they need to beg. I'm sure every one of them has a story. What I ponder most is what happened to their family and friends and why they can't request support from them. :uhh:

i feel bad that i usually don't give them money but it's kinda hard when you see them everyday. there's a legless man who sits right out side of the tim hortons at my school and opens the door for everyone so if I have extra change i'll give some to him but most of the homeless people i see are all drunk and yell at you when you pass buy, and that just scares me.

i don't give 'em shit. i hate it when they ask for "one puff" of your smoke because they know that they're so dirty you aren't going to ask for it back.

i don't want to be hasseled by some potentially dangerous asshole because he's too lazy/etc. to get up and work for a living like the rest of us.

EDIT: my joke sucked after i read it a second time.

i don't give money to beggars because i'd rather spend it. but i might pay them to shine my shoes if they do a good job or some such thing like that.

i work hard for my money and dont just stand around asking for it and expecting to get it for nothing. i actually plan on doing something with my life even if it is an average thing, everyone makes their own choices and if you decided to get drunk every day instead of working or paying for a place to live then fuck you

I'd much rather give money to people who don't ask for it. Like the poor guys you see just sleeping on the pavement at night. I KNOW they need the money, as opposed to the guys constantly begging for it.

I don't give money to beggers because I figure all I'm doing is keeping them alive one more day. In the long run, it does them no good.

man, when i was in cambodia, there were so many kids there bedding that had limbs removed, and i assumed it was from land mines. then i heard that some horrible people sometimes do that to their own children so people will feel sorry for them and give more money. thats just sick man.

i felt so horrible, because they obviously needed the money, and they werent going to waste the money on alchohol and drugs, being five and all. but i didnt want to continue with that disgusting circle of events. :(
