the overdub, maybe, but to complain about taking songs from different shows? What's the big deal? Of course you want the best sounding ones on there. Not every recording is going to come out good. There are so many things that can go wrong with a live recording.

he said it was okay to do a couple shows and take the best ones

Sure, record a whole bunch of different nights and choose the best one, but overdubbing is ridiculous.

I guess I read it to be a sarcastic remark.

I hope this is goodbye wrote:No, we don't want Happiness 2, we want something that doesn't have songs written in 10 minutes and recorded in 20. They think that taking their time with the music and using more than the normal guitar-bass-drums combo is bad. OLP's best music has come with lots of producing and more than three instruments doing the same thing. You can't say the sole guitar-bass-drums combo is much better than what OLP produced with Spiritual Machines or Happiness.

Matt Good doesnt just insult things for no reason.. he always has points and valid ones at that. I respect his opinion with all my heart. Its not that big of a deal..its called having an opinion.

Well Johnathan, if I wanted simplistic rock, I would go listen to some Trapt, Staind, or Mudvayne. I became an OLP fan from listening to music that had something more complex than the simple guitar-bass-drum combo. I didn't become a fan of them from listening to stuff like Do You Like It or All For You. I want the band that I listened to back in 1997 to keep coming out with stuff that isn't basic guitar backed up with bass and drums, I want something more to their music than that. Doesn't anyone else think this is a shaft to the fans, or is it just me that sees it this way?
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

yeah people lay off the guy, he wasn't even trying to insult olp, it was his responce to whether he would ever do the same thing, and it's just his oppion people, i frankly don't like punk that much but that's just my oppion, i'm allowed it and it doesn't mean that i'm trashing it. remember people matt even said he likes some olp, and i'm sure he agree's morally and politically with Raine. The first battle was after hewas asked his oppion on a band, and the media hyped it, now it's alla happening again

the one where matt said something about olp and then it kept going back and forth between bands, chart magazine and they're website was mainly responsible for the whole thing. I think matt has seen the crap coming out of canada lately and gained more respect for olp, although i'm sure he was biting his tongue when SWOT came out

Serious question... Do you guys think that Matt Good has even listened to the new live record? To be honest, I don't think he has- then again I don't live with the man. If he has listened, he's entitled his opinion- if not, sorry.

actually he probably has, he's listened to quite a bit of olp actually, he even likes some of it. He's not the type to pass judgement without doing his research first, he's very good about doing his homework before he speaks

By the way, don't think I hate OLP or anything, I will still go to their shows when they come to Detroit and everything, but I don't want to see OLP to go more to the rock side of music. I liked it when they came out with all their cds. They were all off-beat compared to each cd before it, not to mention everything else that was on the radio. Now with Somewhere Out There and Innocent, it just feels like OLP is becoming one of those bands that come out with songs that can be radio friendly and nothing more.

I turned my radio on today and the local radio station was playing Thief. By all means that song is not what one would consider radio friendly, yet it's still getting played on the radio on regular rotation since 1999 here. They haven't played Somewhere Out There since January 1 of this year. Yet if you look at what OLP says they want, it's more to the song that gets real popular real quick, then ultimately forgotten in 6 months. That saddens me. I worry that I'll never get to hear another Thief of 4AM getting regular play on the radio anymore.
