This isn't about hating men. It's about something that's wrong in society and should be fixed. Shelters should be made available for battered men. But by characterizing everyone who doesn't agree with your ideas as a "man-hater" is ridiculous, annoying, and offensive. If you want to convert people to your opinions, you'll do far better to use facts instead of name-calling.

If there is a need for men's shelters, then they should be constructed, but suing a women's shelter because it would not admit a man is NOT right or constructive. This asshole should stop looking for easy money and go start his own shelter if he feels so strongly about it.

How many times must it be stated that he was looking to get the case in the news, not take money? Try reading the thread before being an "asshole" and start calling the man names.

happeninfish wrote:Like I already said, if this man feels that men's shelters are so very needed, he is free to go out and start one. That is how most women's shelters are started. This lawsuit is as much a petulant cry for money and attention as the suit against the Augusta golf club was.

Wow, women's shelters receive state funding, which helps to keep it open, and you're expecting a man that supposedly gets beat to be able to open up a shelter and keep it running with no financial help? Tell me how the man would be able to do that.

These people are not looking to take money away from that certain place, and most likely, will lose the case. This is a problem today in society, and this is only looking for true equality. The Augusta golf club was a joke. It was a cry for attention from an over-zealous bitch that wanted television time, and nothing more. You sicken me for comparing a man getting beaten to a woman wanting a stubborn man to accept women to a golf club and asking the top golfers to boycott the most important tournament of the golf season.

So Alex, do me a little favor. You seem to have the view that men being beaten doesn't happen all that often, even though the statistics say otherwise. Men get arrested if they are the sex being attacked. Propose a solution to this problem. Why should a man have to either take a physical attack or go to jail because his wife flew off the handle and went after him? Answer me.

By the way, don't go and call some one an "asshole" for uncovering a problem, ok?

very good arguments on both sides, i understand that the enviroment must feel safe for women, but they should be educated while there not to hate ALL men, hate violence, but i sometimes wonder whether that's what's really promoted at those shelters. To fully heal a woman should be able to trust men and learn that not all are like there past experience, otherwise they cannot function in society, hating men is ridiculous as hating blacks, it's just hating men is ok in our society. the man should be allowed in and embraced so they can all share experiences, because they all have things in common. I'm fully for equality but i'm for REAL equality, ask any of my friends, i'm sickened by racism and sexism, but that racism of all kinds black or white, and sexism of all kinds male or female. Feminists seem strangly quiet about equality when a woman gets a easier sentence then a man. Or when a man is denied paternaty leave, where is the equality then, it should work both ways, women deserve a hell of a lot more in some cases, but in others Feminist want to have there cake and eat it too.

I'm sorry... this guy has no grounds to sue these shelters. If anything, he should sue the state, not the shelters. The shelters were established for WOMEN. Therefore he cannot be admitted. He should sue the State if he believes it didn't do its job to provide shelters for men. Does he really need to sue all 10 of them? A lot of people say it isn't about money, but do they always tell the truth? Yeah, right. Suing these places could potentially shut them down, and what does that solve?

Gynocologists receive State money, should they be sued because they don't perform their services on men?

well, yes, but if you're going to apply that standard to men, shouldn't you apply it to women as well. if you believe that mens shelters should be privately funded, should the government money be pulled from the women's shelters as well?

But by characterizing everyone who doesn't agree with your ideas as a "man-hater" is ridiculous, annoying, and offensive.

i didn't characterize everyone who disagrees with me as a man hater, i just pointed out that mens groups have to take on large, respected, powerful man-hating lobby groups when they try to change the law. reread my post.
