It doesn't even matter if you win. If you make it to the top 10 you're guaranteed a record deal.

On the season finale they showed clips of bad singers from all over the world in their version of "(country) Idol". I thought there was only a new one for Canada!

Whoa, that is one big ass franchise.

wow, i didnt know that! american idol is taking over the world!

i actually like popstars a lot more than american idol, because it seems those people really do have to have some talent. on american idol, they sing along to some pre-recorded music in perfect condictions to a song thats already been written for them.

on popstars, even though the music is pop and terrible, i like watching the show because if they dont work their asses off they're off, instead of people voting for the one they like the best. they even have to write their own songs, though some of them were pretty bad. at least it shows a LITTLE more what its like to really try and make it in the music buisness. to top it off, the people who win dont eve become the slightest bit famous, so its REALLY like the music industry!

I liked American Idol but there was one thing that EURKED me about it.....and that was the cheesiness of it.
Making them do these fake ass Ford commericals and shit......promos.....those are the WORST I've ever seen.
Copying Nelly's "Ride Wit Me" and trying to make Clay Aiken into some pimp, doesn't work for me.

The one they did back before Carmen was booted, that was bad too. I feel bad for them having to do that.
Ruben and Clay are going to be having their first singles from RCA released on the same day, who's do ya think will sell more???

Note: Simon Cowell says he thinks both Clay and Ruben have "what it takes" to sell more records than Kelly Clarkson.

one of the guys I used to hang out with was the top male finishers for Popstars, it's funny cause I remember Wes from like grade 9 when he was just this 5 foot nothing cocky kid... now he's a grade 12 5'4 cocky kid who became popular... go figure

Actually, American Idol is a spin-off from a different one. From somewhere in Europe.
