I think that's being a bit too critical .. not a good reason to hate a video
I'm not saying it's a bad video, it's just it was more original the first time . . . when you only have four videos you'd think you'd be able to make them all different
I'm beginning to think she's becoming more and more like the next Alanis Morrisette... She's obviously just as big as Alanis was and she has the same type of attitude. Both had huge breakthrough albums, with a lot of singles from them, that were all hits. They both took advantage of fads (alanis with the "grunge" and Avril with the "pop-punk") and because of the success of the first album Avril just like Alanis will have trouble making an evenly successful sophomore album, just meaning it won't sell nearly as much but it would still be a success compared to most artists.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

Yeah, I get the impression that she's got some genuine talent, and not just her voice.. she likely has something important to say, like Alanis. Her lyrics are very little girl on this album, but she's young, and they're pretty amazing for who she is right now, her age and everything. I don't honestly believe that she's a poser, I think she's just sort of gotten swept up into the corporate aspect of it all. There's a chance she could rise above it. And her music right now is definitely listenable. Poppy, catchy, all of that, but still, there's a certain charm to it.
Once she makes her money off this album, hopefully she'll tell the label to fuck off if they try and force her to make another exactly like it.

That might be a good comparison. Alanis came out as a pop star then she changed her image into a grunge, alternative queen since that was the most popular genre of the time. Later she released Supposed and Under Rug Swept, participated in countless anti-war, peace movements and becames out-grew the image as a pop star into a more mature character. Jagged Little Pill may be the product of Glen Ballard, but the two sophomore albums are amazing and really reveals Alanis's writing talent.
So the question is, will Avril come up with something close to the caliber of Supposed? Maybe eventually she will but I'm still bias over her talent. More important question would be, will it work? This isn't 1993 but it's 2003, "pop" became synonym for "bad music", never you have people study how manufactored artists are. Alanis had a lot of trouble in her time to change how people identify her from pop to alternative and no doubt it'll be a lot harder to do now. If Avril write something as good as Supposed, I doubt the public will accept it, majority of her old fans would not be able to accept the change, and the others will just say it's another move from the record company to make her seem intelligent. Who will she have left as her fans? Probably you guys here that appreciate her music and voice instead of how "punk" she is, like those little boys and girls that worship her right now.
my plan was to spam in this thread, guess that didn't work
Al's emails put a smile on my face, even though all they say is "You've got a private message!"
I've never considered Alanis Morrisette fitting into a 'pop' image .. she started out grunge/alternative with her first few releases. "You Oughta Know", one of her first singles definitely doesn't fit into a pop category, at least I don't think so.

I'm talking about pre-Jagged Little Pill. Didn't you know that she used to be a pop-princess? Later she retracted all her pop albums from the market, I didn't even have a chance to hear those.

Huh .. no I didn't hear anything before Jagged Little Pill .. I didn't know she had released anything else before that. Interesting.

Now that the comparison to Alanis was made I can really see it .. watching her perform at the Juno's .. even the way she carries herself while singing .. very Alanis-like .. I think she'll definitely make a name for herself in the next couple of years.

You bastards, you made me watch the video and the song is catchy as fuck. Now I got the stupid chorus stuck in my head...
*starts singing: "whyyyyyyy, should I caaaaaarrreee, coz you weren't there when I was.......
*slaps myself*
I like how she looked like she was gonna start breakdancing in the first verse.
