Which two of the above are more comparable?

why would you say it like that? by putting the name Allah in quotation marks you are just seeming blatantly anti-muslim. Although Saddam Hussein clearly has a warped vision of the religion of Islam, I think he probably still believes in the religion. And since he believes in the religion he surely would prefer to be killed by someone else because in his mind that would make him a martyr.

I'm sorry you got the wrong idea with this "allah" in quotes, I'm simply not saying "allah" from my own vocab, just quoting another religion for the word GOD.

Andrea wrote:What I love most about this war is how confused I am about everything.

I don't know why we're going. Does anybody, really? We think we're going for Independance and to take out a threat, but... That's what the news tells us. We don't know if there's other motives that they're just not telling us.

I got into a whole big debate with my mom about this. I said I wanted to take a political class in school, she said that I hardly ever read the news, therefore taking that class is a silly idea, and it all escalated into:
Mom:"You need to read the news to educate yourself about what's going on in the world."
Me:"But how can I TRUST the news when they're not always giving me the whole truth?"

Welp I must say your mother is right and wrong, first off dont take a political class to understand what is going on right now, instead take a humanities class or a theology class and understand basically how people think and believe in this society. And I strongly recommend to watch the news, although you dont need to in order to take a policital class, news is just a way to keep you informed of what is going on in the world about the economy, political issues, trade agreements and such.

And for the other argument. Basically we are there for our reasons, and we are being backed up by other peoples reasons. I am very scientific and I base everything on open facts that can be proven without any faith or luck. Some people believe saddam needs to be brough down because of all the war crimes he has committed to his people, and all the other ethnic groups he has caputred and tourtured throughout his reigh of terror. We are attacking him because he has weapons of mass destrucion, and we are being backed up because people feel he needs to be taken out of power for many other reason. Basically I have come to conclude that since there sooo much evidence proving that he is a religiou fanatic, and an "evil" dictator that has commited war crimes and intends on useing weapons of mass destruction only to rid the world of people who he sees not fit to live in his opinion(aka the innocent) that he should be taken out of power, and killed to further prevent any being brainwashed by his views and follow his lead.
And unless we make sure after this war is over that the country is rid of his horrific religious views there will be a round 2, US vs IRAQ, just like in WW2 with germany.

Please forgive any typographical errors that were made :)

corey - no argument there. hussein, and especially his twisted offspring, are, i'm sure, directly responsible for an innumerable amount of innocent lives being lost.

however, that doesn't mean the us needs to help them out. there are other ways to get hussein out of office without a war, especially an aerial campaign which we know this will be.

What about isralie, isnt saddam trying to kill all of them?

uh. no. that would be palestine, and in their case, self defense is justified murder. you wanna talk about a guy to compare to hitler, well what about good ole ariel sharon.

it stuns me that there are people out there who actually support israel. do you know how wierd that is?

Some people believe saddam needs to be brough down because of all the war crimes he has committed to his people

bombing civillian infrastructure is considered a war crime under the geneva convention. the united states has routinely ignored this since clinton and continues to with the attack on afghanistan under g.w. you cannot use war crimes as a valid reason to attack iraq since your adminstration and furthermore, it seems many of the people who live under it, do not believe in them.

and all the other ethnic groups he has caputred and tourtured throughout his reigh of terror

like the muslim people the americans are tortuing in cuba? or those who offered confessions to crimes under duress [ bali bomber and richard reid ]

once again, since the us employs this tactic on home soil it is hypocritical of them to condemn another person for it. you cannot claim this, either, as a valid reason to attack hussein because you are guilty of it yourself.

We are attacking him because he has weapons of mass destrucion

so? you have weapons of mass destruction. you obviously support their manufacture, and bush has even threatend their use, so you cannot claim this as a valid reason to attack saddamn either.

sooo much evidence proving that he is a religiou fanatic

please cite some. throughout his reign hussein has shown that he is ambivalent about islam at best. he only uses it when it suits him.

evil" dictator that has commited war crimes and intends on useing weapons of mass destruction only to rid the world of people who he sees not fit to live in his opinion(aka the innocent)

gw has comitted war crimes. he is intent on using wmd on people he does not see fit to live either [ hussein, the taliban etc. ] and he will most definately kill innocent people in iraq, as he did [ 2600 of them ] in afghanistan.

that he should be taken out of power

and be replaced with another warlord, much like the way you replaced the brutal taliban with the brutal northern alliance. congratulations.

horrific religious views

which are?

now.

united nations sanctions, supported by and held in place by the americans, are weakinging the iraqui people, preventing any useful, wide scale revolutionary action.

we know there are revolutionary groups in iraq right now, and in fact these revolutionary groups are engaged in armed conflicts with the iraqui government [ source ]

we further know that with support from the americans, revolutionary groups of this nature are capable of defeating existing, more powerful regimes. for example, the resistance in afghanistan against the soviets in the 80's.

so. why then does the american government not offer support in the way of arms and money to these groups, while simultaneously lifting the sanctions and allowing the iraqui citizens to install their own new government?

Hmm, so basically what the post above me is saying that trying to stop a potential problem isnt the answer.

Seeing a country as hostile as IRAQ arm out of nowhere is a problem, why not stop it before it become really serious? That is the reason we are raging war on them, we want no innocent to get hurt.

Why dont you tell all the families that have had there children killed, there husbands brutally murdered, and there wifes slayed in front of there childrens eyes that this is not reason enough to bring a man out of power who will not DISARM. There is no way to do this peacefully, this requries war, and this is reason enough to ATTACK rage war on IRAQ.

I guess in order for you to agree that we should use military action is to sit back and wait for Saddam to launch Weapons of mass destruction against anyone he chooses and THEN we will have enough REASON to go into iraq and take saddam out of power using war.

Please change your font next time you respond too, I think my eyes are killing me.

Hey chrissaddam hussein, I guess you didnt see the interview with Saddam himself, that is were I got my information on him being a religious fanatic. If you would like a source I'm sure you could contact CNN and they could send you a video tape of the interview or something.

It doesen't matter what opinion you share. Bush wanted to go to war in the first place. Which I totally aggree with Capo, and i tottaly agree with bush. I won't stand for Weapons of Mass Destruction. I don't care if we have them or not. He inst suppose to have them, thats the rules! woopie ur beat in ur face all gone.....hahah. But Seroiusly This whole country is against war or says they are. Why? May i ask Why? Bush isnt some idiot. He was put here for a reason. We voted for him, basically i see some of these threads and replys as lashing out at the Republican Party and the decision that has taken place. I don't give a flying fuck what the ppl want. Because lately if you look at america were spoiled as hell. Were like a bunch of whiney kids that don't get their way. I don't care if we goto war or not . But we gotta do what we gotta do. Now as for the punk ass democratic fag loving sob's out there. WHY DON'T YOU READ WHAT OUR COUNTRY WAS BASED ON, ITS CALLED HISTORY, Check out the Amendments . Im glad to own a gun, Im glad to have freedom, and im glad the President is who is he now, and no AL dumbfuck Gore, or another dumbass Democrat. or Liberal. Im sorry if i underminded my statements with cursing , but its the cold hard truth.

Aww, why is that, it is good to learn about our government so we know how they think. Plus GOVERNMENT is a required class to learn in High School, you cant graduate without it, unless your district is different...

Don't you EVER use that fucking word again.

Capo- It's not too late to change my courses, so I might take the class anyway. It's an honors class, though. It's not that I'm afraid of a challenge, I just don't wanna juggle too much at once. I don't think our school requires it to graduate.
