damn...outposted again.

Trust me, it's not just a few people .. it's hundreds a day. When the majority of Americans I deal with are ignorant assholes, then yeah, it's gonna reflect back on America itself. These aren't just the views of one person, these are the views of many, many people .. all with the same ignorant ideas in their heads.

what are these "ignorant ideas" you speak of?

You would really be surprised the things AMerican's have asked me on numerous occasions.
"when was the last time a moose was in your backyard?"
"so how did you get here anyways? you don't have highways there right?"
"so do you even have summer?"
"This is a penny, it's worth one cent, have you ever heard of a penny before?"
these are just ones that popped into my head as I wrote this, we've had quite a few chuckles on rides home from various US cities about the stupid things that have been asked

do your phone calls at work deal with a particular region. as in not comming from the whole US countryside but rather one location like the southeast or something like that?

it's gonna reflect back on America itself
what is america? nothing. it's an abstraction created by men. you can't touch america, or see america. there is no such thing as america. there is no such thing as canada. these are just groups, ways we classify people. it's still people.
i think it's really interesting to see people who have the belief that the soil on which you were born can have an effect on your personality to this extent.

where you were born has a huge influence on people. Why are we patriotic? why do we act in certain ways? because of where we live and the way we were brought up. Whether you like it or not there are differences between Canadians and Americans and if you think otherwise than you're sadly mistaken

Where you were born and raised means everything. It definitely has an effect on your personality.

but just like nelson_12 said, in different countries people think differently. in different regions people have their own ignorances. someone from Oklahoma might never go to canada or ever see a canadian ever in their lives, but it's the assumption that hey canadians do this or do that without any backing that makes them act they way they do, where as someone who have had interaction with canada/canadians knows that the sterotypes aren't true.

the stereotypes aren't true but when you've experienced Americans than you're no longer basing your opinion on stereotypes.
If you have never met or talked to one than you are stereotyping, otherwise it is not a a true stereotype

I wish people would stop comparing each other .. Americans vs. Canadians .. Canadians vs. Americans .. Americans vs. Iraq .. if everybody would stop acting like their country is better or more superior maybe all this petty crap would end.

I said no such thing .. I said the majority of Americans I deal with come off as ignorant assholes when they find out I'm Canadian .. I've been called retarded and everything else. I don't think of myself as better than Americans .. I don't think of myself better than anyone! It's the Americans who call in that act that way ...
