Because I really can't see how Avril is better than OLP, with or without Gravity.

The old one's probably saved in your temp files, try deleting them.

Even then, I'd still say that Avril and her team of writers don't stack up.

are you kidding me?
avril's music is fresh and new. it's not like anything else out there. plus it's honest.
gravity on the other hand is old and recycled. and it's bullshit. forced and contrived.

I could go on for hours about what's wrong with Avril, in my opinion, but there's no point to it. You're going to believe what you will, just as I will believe what I will.

a) She's pretending to be something she's not (ie "Punk Rawker")
b) She takes credit for writing things that others wrote for her
c) Even though "her" band is an intrigal part of "her" music, the boys in "her" band get little to no credit (ie Videos showing 200:1 shot ratio of her:band members)
etc.
Besides, it depends on your taste. If you like her pop punk, go ahead and like it. I had just assumed that because you didn't like OLP for being too pop, that you wouldn't like Avril for the same reason.

in reply to a)
Avril Lavigne wrote:I know I'm not punk. You'd never see anyone who's hardcore punk on MTV. They're against all that stuff. No one actually comes up to me and says, "you're not punk," but if they did, I'd be like, "I never fucking said I was."
in reply to b)
she takes credit for the songs because she DID write them. she had to fight the record company to let the album be HER songs. the president of arista records signed her because of her voice and wanted to put tight clothes on her and sell her body and her voice. she wanted to seel her music and her songs. and now she is.
in reply to c)
only one video had a lot more shots of her. the rest were very fair. for weezer's el scorcho video, rivers demanded he get 2/3 of the camera time and the other 1/3 be divided up amongst the other three members of the band. the video for glycerine by bush is entirely gavin rossdale. reel big fish's where have you been? focuses on aaron barrett. the two most recent our lady peace videos have focused a lot on raine. i guess you hate all of those bands too.
for the millionth time. I LOVE POP. olp just makes bad pop.

First of all, I already said that there's no point in this, because you're going to think what you will, and I'll think what I will. You like Avril, good for you. I like OLP, good for me.

you know. it's possible to have an intelligent debate.
i think she deserves all the credit she gets and i'm going to see to it that she gets that credit.
i'm sick of people hating her just because the next guy does and the next guy makes up stuff about her.

I don't hate her "because the next guy does". I hate her because I hate her image and her music.
And yes, it is possible to have an intelligent debate, but not when it's based on opinion.

news flash. all debates are based on opinion.

yes, one time she did say in an interview for a magazine that she was punk. then in another interview for the same magazine she said she never said that.

Actually, they are supposed to be based on facts.
The point of this "debate" would be to persuade the other person to see it your way. But it's impossible for you to make me "see the light" and like Avril, as well as vise versa.
