Toronto: shopping at Eaton Centre, Bloor St, Yonge St (w00t to the Condom Shack!), Queen St, Greek food on the Danforth, and there are some cool museums if you like 'em, the Much store on Queen St (the studio is at the corner of Queen and John, and so is Speakers Corner ;)...and no, I don't live there; I'm a walking Toronto brochure.

Ottawa: skating on the Rideau Canal, and I only went there in May so I can't tell you what's great in the winter.

Montreal: shopping on Ste-Catherine Ouest...unfortunately that's all I did the last time I was in Montreal except attend a GBS show.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I hope I can find shop next to the condom shack easily - I don't want really want to be wandering around asking people where the condom shack is!

And I'm trying to convince my insurance company to let me go skating on the Rideau canal in Ottawa - I *so* want to do that. I'm taking my skates with me even if they say no, i'll just have to be careful!

I'm getting so excited! I just got myself a ticket for a Canadiens game in Montreal - it's the night before the OLP concert in the same arena so I can look down from my very high up seat (I can't believe how much the tickets cost) and think about how close I'll be the next night!

:D I love Canada :D I can't wait another 2 weeks! :D

Ottawa is unbelievably frigid this time of year. Also be warned that over in Hull they're not allowed to sell alcohol past 11 pm. And for god's sake don't go anywhere in public with a beer in your hand! You'll get arrested. Have fun!

That's how it works over here. You need a special late licence to sell alcohol after 11 (and I think it's even earlier on a Sunday). So you get last orders announced at about 10:45 - everyone rushes to the bar to get another drink and then time's called at 11. In my town only two of the bars have late licences so they can stay open until 1.

Haha, imagine if that WERE true!! I would die :)

Sure, the Depanneurs (corner stores in Hull which sell alcohol) are not allowed to sell you alcohol past 11pm (you have to be 18, but it's unbelievably easy to buy underage, I have ID + i look older than 18), but the Bars in Hull sell alcohol till about 2am i think, or 2:30. I know last call in Ottawa is 2 -2:30 am, and i think it's no different in hull. I've only stayed out a few times in hull till it was actually closed , which i believe was 2:30, maybe even later

So ya, don't worry about that. They do sell alcohol. If you like the bar scene, downtown Ottawa is the place to be. Legal age is 19 here, and the market has some of the best pubs/bars around.

Minglewoods and the Cabin are the most popular, so you may want to check those out on your stay here. (right across the street form each other, in the market)

There is of course the Canal as well, pretty but FREEZING cold this time of year (it's be -25 for the past few days here). Skating is always fun though. You can enjoy a beaver tail , or go shopping at the Rideau Centre. In fact my school is situated on the Canal, right in the heart of the city.

Anyways, Enjoy your stay here, even thoguh the winter is quite boring comapred to the summer/spring.

I'm really excited about visting in the winter. I've been to toronto, ottawa and montreal (and lots of other bits of Canada) all before, but that was in the summer. And that was great, but in the summer you don't get snow or skating or OLP! So I'm really looking forward to it. 10 days to go :D

It's easy enough for me. But then again I'm a lightweight!

While we're on the topic of alcohol, I have a question about what over here would get called 'girlie drinks' (boys don't drink them or they'd get beaten up!). These are what I drink when I go out - things like Barcardi Breezers, Archers Aqua, Smirnoff Ice, WKD which are fizzy drinks in a bottle, usually kind of fruit flavoured but alcoholic.

Anyway, my question is do you have those in Canada, and if not what are the Canadian equivalents? I need to know what to ask for when good looking Canadian men with sexy accents offer to buy me a drink (like that's going to happen! - But I can still dream  )

I haven't drank since September. And that was one glass of SoCo. The last time I got bombed was with Steph, and that was the beginning of August. I went from a pint of rum a night from February-April to not drinking at all. I am truly proud of myself.

Yeah. You would think I would be drinking like a fish because I lost some one I loved, but in some strange way, it caused me to stop drinking. Stranger things have happened. I have no bad vices. I don't get laid, so sex isn't an option, I don't drink anymore, I never smoked in my life, I've really held back on the swearing, I have given up "bad" food, and I am just trying to lead my ideal, perfect life. As soon as I can kick the occasional depression lapse, I will have a somewhat ideal life. Oh yeah, and get a decent girlfriend. Attraction really can't carry a relationship for me anymore...boo.
