But you do have a point.

Yeah, I am an "American" and we "Americans" don't know what good music is, so we're not too keen on knowing Rush. He might be popular in Canadia, but here, we respect dancing, and now musical ability.

Rush is pretty huge to not know about, even if you're an American. You've probably heard an absolute ton of Rush songs and don't even know it, especially Spirit of the Radio and Tom Sawyer.

You know, not to get off the subject, but I think a really amazing drummer is important to the music I love, which is sort of strange, because I never focus on the percussion when I listen to music.. but I mean, Neil Peart is godlike, and I love Rush.. and my two favorite bands are Tool and Our Lady Peace and Danny Carey and Jeremy Taggart are both insanely good.

So I'm going to argue that nowadays a brilliant percussionist is more important than a virtuoso guitar player.

I think they're just about equal. Usually the guitar is more present in a song than percussion. I'm drawn to both simulatneously, usually the're both equally impressive E.g Vapor Trail, One Man Army.

What about Dean DeLeo from STP. He's pretty good, if you ask me.

(I know who Rush is. I was making a general comment about the population of America that is under 35. I used to listen to the "classic rock" station until I was 16, so I like a lot of "older bands.)

Finally, some one might listen to me and download Alkaline Trio. And so it begins.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Yeah me too.

..I know you've reccomended several Alkaline songs, but would you mind posting a few more for me to download, and hopefully buy?
Oh, keep the songs you pick to one cd, so I don't have to pick between 2 (or more) cd's. Thanks!

I'll give a list of 15 good Alkaline Trio songs

1. Nose Over Tail
2. Cooking Wine
3. Cringe
4. My Little Needle
5. Clavicle
6. Sorry About That
7. Goodbye Forever
8. Bleeder
9. You've Got So Far To Go
10. Fuck You Aurora
11. Radio
12. Mister Chainsaw
13. Take Lots With Alcohol
14. Another Innocent Girl
15. Ninety-Seven

Those 15 are really good, but if you don't like some, you can look into these 10.

1. Message From Kathleen
2. Trouble Breathing
3. This is Getting Over You
4. I Lied My Face Off
5. Keep 'Em Coming
6. Madam Me
7. Maybe I'll Catch Fire
8. Hell Yes
9. Private Eye
10. Armageddon

Then there are songs like "Stupid Kid" "While You're Waiting" "Bloodied Up" and "Crawl" which are really good, and are very catchy. But yeah, download any of these songs that I've listed, you won't be disappointed.

If you go to their website ( www.alkalinetrio.com ) you can pick out what kind of songs you want. If you want something raw, with a lot of emotion, and really edgy, download songs from their EP's and albums like "Sundials" "For Your Lungs Only" or "Goddamnit". If you want something that is a little more polished, download something off of "Maybe I'll Catch Fire" or "Hell Yes". If you want smooth sounding songs that are awful catchy, yet have a lot of emotion, download something off of "From Here To Infirmary" or "Alkaline Trio/Hot Water Music Split".

Another Innocent Girl was a song that just grew on me. Like, when I first started listening to Alkaline Trio, I hated Clavicle and Bleeder, now they're two of my favorite songs. Another Innocent Girl was a song I would skip over, because it just seems too slow and Dan singing the song doesn't seem right, but after listening to it, I started to love it.
