^ If Chang's parents were my parents....

Poor Chang. They want him to graduate in 3 years and obtain his PhD at 24 or something. They also think that OLP is "too violent"

Hm, my mom thinks my music and the internet makes me depressed. I think she's looking for excuses to take away everything I like.

*clumsyrific* wrote:you see, my friends, this is what happens when you are raised in a single parent family. If you're the oldest, you become the other spouse in a way. I'm my mom's person to vent at. She has no husband to yell at, therefore, she yells at me.
That's how it is here too .. my older bro is never home so everything comes down on me. Plus my mom and I are too much alike .. we're both stubborn and moody and we'll go days, sometimes weeks without even speaking to each other cuz neither of us will admit we were wrong. If I don't initiate a conversation, my mom will basically ignore me ... my mom guilt tripped for 2 years when I moved away for school, saying how I left her alone and why did I move away, making me feel bad. So I moved home after I graduated and now if I complain about something like the lack of employment around the area she'll say "well I didn't ask you to move back here, you shouldn't have moved back, and why did you come back" Gah! I moved back for her, and now that I'm back here, it was one of the biggest mistakes of my life ....
Also I brought my dog back with me, and if I ever go away for a weekend like to T.O or something she'll get mad at me, "this dog is your responsibility, not mine so you can't just take off whenever you want too and expect me to look after him"

Like it's so much work to feed him twice a day and open the door once in awhile to let him outside!
AND .. I have a fuckin' curfew .. I'm 23 years old and I have a curfew!! Why? Because my mom has to get up early in the mornings for work and if I'm not home by 2 she can't sleep and the dog keeps her awake waiting for me and I'll make too much noise coming in .. I have no social life, I'm trapped here, it's like a prison .. someone help me

They don't realize that a guy and a girl can go places, and not be on a date. It annoys me to no end.
My parents are the exact same way. Whenever i go out with a guy friend, they always think he's my boyfriend. Grrrrrr, why don't they realize that a guy and i girl can jus tbe friends?
And, my parents are soooooo over-protective. Whenever i go out, they allllllways wait up for me. They never did this for my brother. When he was my age, he had all the freedom in the world. He could stay out as late as he wanted and they didn't care. He was even allowed to go to Mexico. Last year, my friend and i wanted to go to Tremblant (sp?) to go snowboarding, adn they wouldn't let me. Grrrrrr
After i'm done high school, which is in a couple of months, i'm outta this house. I can't stand it anymore.

i think i'd rather have step parents. I want a parent who actually treats me like a human being.

my parents are nice, they let me go to (most of) the concerts id like to see but with "supervision"

but then you've also got the parental thing - i shouldnt meet the CM because theyre probably all 40-yr old druggies who want to rape me
but i guess you cant have it all
but i convinced them that none of you are 40yr olds that want to rape me................

No you wouldn't. I used to have a stepdad, and he did not treat me like I was a human being.

I can't work out to quote someone else's post. So to LIAM - step parents aren't any better than real ones when it comes to treating you as a human being. I'm sure there are good ones out there, but my experience has been bad.

All I can say is that it's a very good job I only had to live at my Dad's for a year after he remarried and most of that time I was away at uni. I get on better with my stepmother now, but I still can't spend very much time at my Dad's if she's there.

It's not really about love .. I'm sure we all love our parents .. I love my mom more than anything but I don't like her much and we don't get along .. I still love her though .. of course

It certainly sounds like it listening to everyone here. I love my Dad. And I loved my Mum too. But she died. And since I don't count my stepmother as a parent, just someone who happens to be married to and live with my Dad, I can say that I love my parents too.
