I asked my poli-sci major friend, and he said:

You can ban it during certain time periods, but you can't flat out ban it, i forget the name of the supreme court case, but i know it had to do with george carlins "filthy words." The way the court ruled is that they couldn't play filthy words during times when kids were likely to listen (like 4pm in the afternoon)...but it was ok to play at 11pm.

And I heard that the reason "Ironic" is banned is because it contains: "Mister play-it-safe was afraid to fly / he packed his suitcase kissed his kids goodbye / he waited his whole damn life to take that flight / and as the plane crash down well isn't this nice..."

That still makes no sense why it's banned.
yeah, I was about to post that line... I don't think half of those should be banned.. I really don't want to be unsensitive, I just think they're taking it too far. It's almsot as if soon they'll ban all art or books involving airplanes, skyscrapers, or fires...

Everytime I see that list I wonder why they have Van Halen's "Jump" but don't ban "It's Raining Men"

LMAO!!

Everytime I read that list I think it's more and more rediculous. People are too sensitive sometimes.

I am slow, are we laughing at what I said, or something else?

By their logic, they can ban the entire Naveed (its Arabic!! *gasp*) CD and any other OLP song.

Examples:
Superman's Dead: Superman can fly
Big Dumb Rocket: you get it
Somewhere Out There: "you're falling back to me..."
Burning Neon: gotta watchout for those crazy neons
Car Crash: too violent

I guess Van Halen's Jump is so much more offensive than It's Raining Men...stupid people...and isn't it Neon Crossing?

Yeah, when I was in school journalism I wrote a story about that stupid list. And I definitely brought up "It's Raining Men" and the principal pulled my story because I was being insensitive or some shit like that. I don't mean to be rude when I say this, but people need to get the fuck over it. Yeah, it is sad that people died, especially those who didn't deserve it, but give me a break. It was one freak accident of a day. If we get past this 9-11 there won't be another major terrorist attack on the US for maybe another 20 years, if not longer.

You might have a different attitude if you lived in New York and witnessed it .. it hasn't even been a year yet .. thousands died, children were orphaned .. expecting people to just 'get over it' is a little cold .. especially when there's a big gaping hole in their city :|

Yeah, have they actually finished cleaning up the mess yet? They haven't had anything on tv lately, or I just haven't been watching tv. Jeebus, it's almost been a year already, hasn't it? Wow.

Yeah I heard they finished cleaning up the actual site but they're still sifting through the remains trying to find things to give back to the families like rings or jewellery or something :(
