For the number of good songs.

Which ones would those be, in your opinion?
I like All For You, Do You Like It, Sell My Soul, and Sorry. Hah, if I rated it the same way you did, that would make it a 4... But I just couldn't rate them that bad.

I originally gave it an 8.

Now that I'm over it, I'd probably give it a 5.

I don't even remember this poll, but I'd give it 1. Don't hurt me, I just didn't find anything of value in it.

I'd give it a 6.5, but since it's not an option, I thought I'd be good and give them a 7.

The album is actually pretty good, but since it was OLP's, it's kinda like '...meh...', if you know what I mean. If it were a newbie punk-ish type band, like Simple Plan or Not By Choice, I'd give it a higher mark, but coming from a beautiful, experienced band with so many other records, it's a bit of a disappointment, but it's still good, just not as good.

At least, that's my opinion. I stress the word 'opinion'.
"if the nuremberg trials were applied to us foreign policy, every us president since 1945 would have been hanged." noam chomsky.

...and this is me hanging on / i'd burn our initials in the sun if it would shine / anxiety chokes me like razor wire / if hate's in your heart man, you'll take what you're given / wake up / i'm not the only one / it's never goodbye / go ahead and play dead / if everyone's a casualty, then take your time, there ain't no trouble / these wounds they will not heal / ambition can be a tricky thing / what the hell do i know about rape anyway? / this is not what i hoped for / ain't it so weird how it makes you a weapon / who will be there to tell me how stupid i am? / those living for death will die by their own hand / and it's me that I am spying on / pick up the pieces and live with the stars / hurry up and wait / things have never been so swell / they're always the ones who slowly drift / be great / ...and this is my world.

I like the "vote on the number of good songs method". it works since there's 10.

I'll give points for All For You, Not Enough, Sell My Soul, Bring Back the Sun, and A Story About a Girl.

I'll give a half-point to Somewhere Out There for getting OLP's name out there, albeit in a roundabout way.

I award a half-point to Sorry for the little falsetto break.

I subtract a point for Made of Steel.

5!

A point a song, eh?

Not Enough +1
Sell My Soul +1
Bring Back the Sun +1
A Story About A Girl +1

Innocent -1
Made of Steel -1

Net = 2

Well, I'd still say it's worth at least a 5. From the standpoint of a fan in the past, it's about a two. Overall, it's still a 5.

Yeah, I'd so give this album a 2. I don't even think there are two good songs on here anyway.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Gravity I would give a 7.5. Round up to an 8.

Its one of OLP's weaker albums, especially creatively. The upside is that a lot of the songs are very easy to listen to and aren't half bad. All they need was some more time to put into them to make them better.

Points awarded by song:

All For You- (.5) (strong, but get repetitive in its last minute badly. More time could have made this song a classic. I just can't listen to the whole thing without skipping the end.

Do You Like It?- (1) This songs worked very well despite its simple structure. Chorus is well suited for the simplistic approach this record took.

Somewhere Out There-(1) Well done and captures Gravity's sound well. Especially Raine's soaring voice. But this song is associated with their downward progression from experimental to just straight forward.

Innocent (1) Very catchy, Raine's voice is on.........slightly cheesy, but I really dig this track despite that.

Made Of Steel (.5) THis one was okay. Radio friendly and well meaning, but weak compared to other #5 tracks like Naveed, Is Anybody Home and 4am.

Not Enough- (.5) Again this track was potential, but I found it to be extremely generic as well. It might have worked better on a Lifehouse or Creed record. If this track was spiced up a bit it could have been great.

Sell My Soul (1) a slow burner that worked. I like the bridge and the chorus was kind of neat. Too bad it was repetitive as hell.

Sorry- (.5) this song was a misfire to me. I hated the guitar sounds, and felt that it was a song best left for a harder more edgy record. Its not bad by any means, just sounded a little too poppy.

Bring Back the SUn (1) The first 2 minutes of this song are extremely boring, but by the second chorus this song is just beautiful. I love the guitar solo and passion in Raine's voice during "I know I know I failed you"

Story About a Girl (1) Probably my favourite song on the record. I wasn't thrilled with the verses and felt that it was lacking, but the chorus and soaring guitar kick major ass.
