Software Engineer. Been working at the same place since before I even had a degree. I'm currently trying to wrap up my MS. I'm on the ten year plan. :)

i have been seriously considering transferring to another store lately. there is way too much favoritism at my store. there are other supervisors who literally do nothing their whole shift when i work my ass off and it makes double work cause everyone has to help them. tonight, i was really angry cause my boss pulled me to another dept to clean when my dept was a mess and there were other people already in that dept!! this happens alot and irks me!

the other day my boss approached me if i would ever be interested in being an area supervisor (where you're in charge of multiple depts). i wanted to tell her "never at this store!!" i just avoided answering :) i think i wouldnt mind the promotion but it would have to be at a diff store with new people.

i am so mixed. i like my job but these people i work with are so damn frustrating!!!

I just finished updating my resume. I would appreciate any type of feedback that anybody has, but especially:

Is it aesthetically pleasing and well organized? Is there anything specific you don't like the look of?

Does the section labeled "Interests & Ideals" intrigue or offend?

Thanks!

What about putting your contact information under your name...

Josh Day
address
phone
email

But that might make it too lop-sided, I always have a had time settling on what I want for a resume.

But reading that, I have even less of an idea what you do! But that is just me...I'm sure the companies that hire you will know what your talking about!

There's not really much between them aside from the word "Contact" which is justified differently -- do you mean it's just physically too far from my name that it's difficult to find, or that having the "Contact" heading no good? Or that I should list address before phone before email?

I got a job. My father has an oilfield/pressure trucking/steaming business, and one day they decided to hire me. (I was in the office a week or so before and was cracking jokes about needing a job. They called me and said I had got the job... um, yay?)

I started out washing walls and organizing and shredding paper, but now I'm invoicing and handling spread sheets and filing.

But hey, $10/hour is better than $0/hour!

I just meant something like this...(hopefully this works!)

I usually do mine in this kind of format...but I'm no expert at resumes and yours looks fine, just a suggestion.

Yeah Shanae...better than my first job! I looked after horses on a PMU farm, I had horses bite me, kick me, scare the shit out of me and other things I will choose not to talk about! I wasn't very good at that job! lol

Resume format looks good Josh.

Me I've worked at every major help desk in Columbus by now. Any time I start to make some progress somewhere or get to a job I really love some reason or another gets in the way and I'm back on the street looking for the next gig.

Being in business for yourself is the way to go.
I'm currently working on the side with a friend of a friend doing server installs, PC Maintenance for small offices with no IT staff.

Good money, challenging work, friendly people, make my own hours. What's not to love?

I just got this email and thought I should share it in this forum. Just in case you ever get these two environments mixed up:

@ PRISON
You spend most of your
Time in a 10X10 cell

@ WORK
You spend most of your
Time in an 6X6 cubicle

@ PRISON
You get three meals a
Day, fully paid for

@ WORK
You get a break for one meal and
You have to pay for it

@ PRISON
For good behavior,
You get time off

@ WORK
For good behavior,
You get more work

@ PRISON
The guard locks and unlocks
All the doors for you

@ WORK
You must carry a security card
And open all the doors yourself

@ PRISON
You can watch TV
And play games

@ WORK
You could get fired for watching
TV and playing games

@ PRISON
You get your own toilet

@ WORK
You have to share the toilet with
People who pee on the seat

@ PRISON
They allow your family
And friends to visit

@ WORK
You aren't even supposed to speak
To your family

@ PRISON
All expenses are paid by the
Taxpayers with no
Work required

@ WORK
You must pay all your expenses to go
To work, and they deduct taxes from
Your salary to pay for prisoners

@ PRISON
You spend most of your life behind
Bars wanting to get out

@ WORK
You spend most of your time wanting
To get out and go inside bars

@ PRISON
You must deal with sadistic wardens

@ WORK
They're called 'managers'

I think it's more colorful that way.

Kind of like when you hear radio edits all the time and they censor out the words with some crazy scratch riff. Then you hear the uncensored version and it's just not the same.
