I know, that's why I said I heard good things about it, but got a decent deal on Air Canada

If you have film don't put it in your checked luggage, the various scanning devices will wipe it. Putting it through the little xray machine for carry on luggage is fine.

Punta Cana? Puerto Plata?
Flying into Punta Cana was crazy... I swear the guy was a stunt pilot. Huge plane + short runway = insane!

I'm going to Puerto Plata. I went to Sousa last time. I would have liked Punta Cana over Puerto Plata for their white sand beaches but i'm a broke student

Punta Cana is notorious for making visitors sick so maybe you have the better option

You can't really generalize like that... I've never heard of anyone who got sick in Punta Cana. Maybe it's isolated to certain resorts or something. I have friends and family who go every year and have never been sick. I went in 2003 with 15 people and none of us go sick.
I have friends who have gotten sick in Puerta Vallarta and Cancun.... doesn't mean I'd say these places are notorious for making visitors sick. We all know what to be careful of to avoid getting sick.

Most of the ocean sucks on the Puerto Plata side though, not nice clear water. You can't see through to the sand. It's dark and murky in a way. It's called the "Dark Sea"

ya i've learned some stuff from this thread as well. thanks all.
Oh and for future reference... don't look into 9/11 conspiracies, particularly video, only 10 days before you're about to go on a plane for the longest trip you've ever done. The image of planes smashing into things is not a good thing to keep in mind.

You think that's bad. Trying flying out of an airport over the wreckage of a 'plane that crashed there the day before (while you were at the airport). Oh and the imagine the fire alarms going off right next to you about 20 minutes into that flight.
I'm not helping am i?

You're talking about the Air France plane in Toronto?
eek!

Actually oddly enough I would feel better knowing a plane had crashed recently. I know that if one place crashes it doesn't mean that yours won't too, but it makes me feel like the quota for recent airline crashes has been reached if one happened really close to my flight haha I know that's really stupid but it's like "well there hasn't been a crash in a while... maybe mine's next"

See, when I flew to Toronto I had that "eek there hasn't been a plane crash for ages" thougt. So then afterwards I kind of ok, until the fire alarm stuff and diverting the 'plane and that stuff. Then in the next few weeks loads of other 'planes crashed.
And yes it was the Air France crash Kathy. On my way back from the Drake/Edgefest.
