yeah, they're pretty chill, they love me. a little Cm from time to time isn't gonna kill em.
*gets daily dose of CM*
Whenever death may surprise us, let it be welcome if our battle cry has reached even one receptive ear and another hand reaches out to take up our arms.
Nobody's gonna miss me, no tears will fall, no ones gonna weap, when i hit that road. my boots are broken my brain is sore, fer keepin' up with thier little world, i got a heavy load. gonna leave 'em all just like before, i'm big city bound, your always 17 in your hometown
i really don't think workplaces ever really check cause every job i've had where i've been on a computer all day always said we weren't allowed to go on the internet and messaging services but thats pretty much all i did all day
My boss and our network support guys all use MSN at work, so they really can't stop us using it. I mostly talk to my friend who sits opposite me to moan about our boss and her constant hypocrisy, or my best friend who sits the other side of the office to exhange gossip and ask for help!
I don't think I've ever posted on the CM during normal working hours though. In the middle of the night and at weekends I definitely have.
When I started work our internet access was totally blocked apart from a few sites like the BBC news and weather and places like multimap.
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.
And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.
yeah, i figured they could. but they probably don't. that's all i'm saying.
robbo.

I've worked for a lot of big companies... they all have monitoring programs, but each company monitors at different levels. Most of the businesses I've worked at have software to mine all the chat transcripts and all webpages visited. If key words pop up, you are flagged, and someone then manually goes thru your records, transcripts, web history. Software also logs the % of time spent on various sites (work intranet, versus internet, what types of sites, other network activity, non-network computer activity).
It's expected that employees will spend a 'reasonable' amount of time per day on personal sites (check the news, online banking, etc). But there are pre-set %s and you are flagged if it goes above that. There's very minimal chance of being fired unless what you're doing relates to porn, questionable sites, etc. But if you're ever looking for a raise or promotion, these stats that have been tracked will impact you.
In my current job, we were also told that, on top of web and network tracking, they are taking a "video-type record" of what I see on the screen at all times... meaning every single thing I see can be seen by someone else. So I couldn't even type my CM Anniversary letter at work one day when I was thinking about it.
Woah - long post. Sorry!
<I><B>"I know this sounds corny, and I might be a little bit drunk, but honest to god, thank you everybody"</B></I>
