I feel so terrible for Michelle Kwan. She's one of the best figure skaters to have ever lived and she will never have her olympic gold.

And they even had to pull someone from the team weeks ago so that Kwan go. This whole experience must be really hard for her

this sums it up tho..
kwan was injured for US nationals.
petitioned for a spot on the team, had to go thru a test to prove she could compete.. passed said test... went over to torino to compete.. went thru her first training run and either re-aggravated or just realized she was hurting too much to compete and informed the USOC about it and theyre flying over the kid she replaced on the team to begin with.

Did anyone see the pairs final last night? That fall the Chinese girl took looked sooooo painful - I can't believe she managed to complete the program.

OK. The other side of this Kwan thing, just so all y'all know:
She did fuck all and got her spot handed to her because she asked for it.
Now, in order to send her, they had to pull someone who'd actually EARNED their way to he Olympics in the tryouts. That happened to be Emily Hughes, younger sister of Sarah (who kicked everyone's ass at the last Olympics). 16 year old Emily worked her teeny little ASS off, only to get booted at the last minute for Princess Kwan, who is well past her prime (her career's been wayyy longer than usual) and would have been highly unlikely to medal at all even if she hadn't gotten this injury. The REASON skaters have short careers is because it KILLS YOUR BODY. Kwan is in shitty little pieces by now anyway. OK so she goes instead of Emily, ruins herself permanently and forever during a practice, and now Emily is suddenly thrown back in again, completely unprepared, not having trained for weeks, with no bloody chance left. WHY MICHELLE? WHY?

yay - Cdn men's hockey team!
I was a little worried this morning when I saw it was 1-1, and then 2-1 for Canada... wondering why it wasn't a blowout. Then the game ended 7-2 for Canada... that's more like it. The boys took awhile to warm up it seems.

How could you ever be worried about losing to an italian hockey team.
Hockey is unfair in the olympics, I think, ESPECIALLY womens hockey. The only team that will provide any kind of competition is the US. Canada is huge on womens hockey. We're about the only country in the world.
Mens hockey is alot more evenly matched, especially like Sweden, Russia, Canada and the US, you see alot of NHL players playing for their countries in those instances.
