hahaha

I've been tempted to try one, but I don't want to get one just to find out that I'd rather be using a PC, you know? That's a lot of money to spend like that.

Actually, it would be very user friendly if we hadn't trained ourselves for years on PCs...

Hey I use both extensively as my work uses both PC and MAC. Really the Mac is made for dummies. Sorry but it really is completely user friendly. The only real difference is the buttons on the left instead of the right. One click vs two clicks and no uninstall programs just drag into the trash.

The mac is very virus free partly due to the code and partly because it isnt pc/microsoft.

I must admit having just bought a laptop i was very apprehensive about going over to the dark side (what i called macs) but with the free ipod incentive the choice was easier. I honestly can say i have had no problems at all. touch wood. It really is incredibly simple to use and really is far more intuitve than PC. I do alot of problem solving on the PC and trouble shooting on the mac is so much simpler.

Also you get the bonus of dashboard. This was originally developed for longhorn which is now being called vista, but because they were so slow in the development stage Apple took the idea and ran with it. Basically dashboard is downloadable interactive icons to do just about anything. It is a really cool feature and you can have lots of fun with it. Cool things like where to buy gas in your town- it displays the prices at pumps around town, or envelop printing. You just start to type in a name from your address book and it formats your envelope for printing. Little things that are fun and time saving. Of course they will not change your life.

The only other draw back is msn doesn't have winks or drawing ability. Again not going to kill me not having this

So i would reccomend the ibook g4 12 inch if you care about the extra pounds or 14 inch which is what i have as this also comes with the super drive (dvd burner) oh and all the software for multimedia comes with the machine.

In simplest terms, the ibook is meant for students and the powerbook for professionals. ibooks start at $1249, and Powerbooks start at $1799 CND.

The Powerbook is faster, more powerful, and has a sharper screen. Those who are big into Photography, and graphics editing often go with the Powerbook.

On the other hand, ibooks are no slouch either and when it comes down to it, your getting more bang for your buck when you buy an ibook. I'd recommend ordering it with an 80gig hard drive though rather than the 40gig though.

You know whats clearly better than Macs?
The black market.

Slightly used for just half the price! And who needs a crumby serial number anyway?

Whenever I hear people refer to the black market, I imagine a bunch of badass criminals all hanging around, all wearing black, and every once in a while someone discreetly slipping a twenty in someone else's pocket.

yeah when i was comparing a power book vs an ibook we listed all the features that were gained by the 400-500 bucks. Basically a slightly sharper mouse, more power, but very very few people need that...especially for what most people use there comps for. Metal case vs plastic ( i prefer the white) hmm there was one other thing...in the end it didn't seem that i needed it. the screen is marginally better. It is like comparing the emac to the imac. We have both at work and both do the same thing at basically the same speed. the i mac has a nicer screen but unless you are a graphics professional or hard core gamer (in which case a pc is a better choice) you would not need this. I do a fair amount of graphic work and find no differenc between all 4 machines..oh yeah we also have a G5 with a 20 inch plasma screen so i do the gammit.
