Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Who want to attend the after party show at my Hotel room?

Though I can't stay up and party too late as I'm in town on business for the next day.

I can't take money from a dedicated CM'er though
Non-Dedicated CM'ers maybe

Nah I've been to shows at Royal Oak before... it's pretty easy to get good positioning and to make your way to the front. I saw Ben Folds there a few months back, got there not too long before the opening act went on and still ended up about 15 feet from the stage, could have been closer if I didn't have 3 other people with me and felt like manuvering my way through the crowd.

Anyone still looking to sell 2 tickets? I'd like to go with my girlfriend but have yet to find an tickets that aren't going for an astronomical sum. I'm going to be out that way anyway, so I could easy stop buy and take them off your hands :D

How close you get has absolutely nothing to do with the venue. It depends on how hardcore the fans of the band you're seeing are.

Well true, if the concert is full of hardcore OLP fans, everyone is going to want to be close to the stage, but at the same time the way the stage is set up and the lay out of the floor make it so alot of people can be up close to the stage. So it does make a difference. At the same time I wouldn't show up 5 minutes before the doors open and expect to be standing right in front of Raine the whole time.

Ahhh I got tickets!!! Looks like they opened up a few seats for sale online, so if anyone missed out and would still like to go, I'd hit it up ASAP.

See you guys tonight

yeah that is great. I got tickets for Both Coldplay and U2 liek that. Last minute seats.

Meg hopefully it will be okay. Depending on the venue. Sometimes people with will call go in, sometimes ticket holders get in faster.

can someone tell me when they band comes on/off

Rock and Roll Soliders are alternative rock. I heard one of their songs before.

I just got back about an hour ago. As people who have been following this thread may know, I got in on tickets at the very last second. So my brother and I headed out to Royal Oak around 6:20ish from Ann arbor and got to the Theater a little after 7. There was already a pretty good crowd on hand, but luckily we were able to navigate fairly easily into the lower section. We stayed near the steps for most of the opening acts (Pedestrian... minus... well all of pedestrian except for the lead singer, Josh, who was also playing guitar for OLP, and Rock and Roll Soldier).

The crowd was pretty dead for most of Pedestrian's set, and it was rather hard to understand ANY of the lyrics, since Josh (I think that was his name, I apoligize for not double checking to be sure) was essentially swallowing the mic. The second band, Rock and Roll Soldiers were interesting to say the least. I've never seen a rock band with an asian lead singer before (not that it matters, I just found that kind of interesting), and they did a really good job of getting the crowd going. There were definately people in attendence who had no interest in seeing anything but OLP... but certian sections of the crowd were really into these guys. They worked the stage well and pretty much rocked out every second they were out there (even their so called "slow song" sounded like a trasher to me). It was really cool to see 2 opening acts that were actually entertaining, at least in my eyes.

As for OLP, they did their usual "now you guys have to wait 45 minutes" act but as always it was well worth it. It was a GREAT show, period. I went to another club show in June of 2002 when I was living in Jersey that was fantastic in my eyes, but tonight just may have topped it. If I have any complaints it was that the crowd was a little too "mosh happy". I cannot for the life of me understand how someone can be moshing to a song like innocent or somewhere out there.. and it sucked to have to look out for the same 200 + lbs a-holes flying through the crowd every 5 minutes. These are the inherent consequences of being in the first few rows I guess.

Anyway on to the stuff that matters, the music. By the time the band came on I was about fifteen feet from Raine, if that. People were pushing forward the entire night, and without even trying, I got shoved up to within a foot or two of the security baricade after a few songs. The guys sounded amazing tonight. I honestly cannot come up with any musical complaints. They played a diverse set that never dragged, they kept the talking to a minimum and when Raine did speak it was always well timed and served to get the crowd even more into the experience. Instrumentally, they were completely on point and as others have said in the past the new stuff sounds AMAZING live, especially "Picture" (the insturmentals just sound so much more intense and aggresive live) and "Will the Future Blame Us". Raine's voice sounded completely on tonight and never seemed to really falter. The crowd was RED HOT and you could tell the band appreciated it. Raine seemed particularly impressed with the deafening sing along to 4 AM, as he pretty much turned the mic over to the crowd and mouthed along as he soaked it all in.

All and all a fantastic show... I was expecting alot and got it and then some. My vocal chords may be shot, my clothes may be soaked, and my body may be somewhat sore/bruised from the more aggressive members of the audience, but it was all worth it.

Here's my Setlist (not all in order)

-Picture
-Starseed
-Wipe That Smile Off Your Face (dedicated to a "close friend"... and later Raine stated that the bridge would make a good slow dance song... and that there was one woman he'd particularly like to dance with to this, which he later revealed to be Laura Bush during the chorus)
-Innocent
-Love and Trust
-Boy
-Clumsy
-Where Are You?
-Angels/Losing/Sleep
-Will The Future Blame Us?
-Naveed

Encore (This part I know is in order):
- 4 AM
- In Repair (yes you read that right.... I screamed for "Made To Heal" right before this, and the guy next to me remarked that there was no way they'd play that since they hadn't done anything off "Spiritual Machines" on the tour, as soon as he said that they opening riff to "In Repair" played and we both went nuts).
-Somewhere Out There
-Superman's Dead

I'm sure other people will correct that for me (I may have missed a song or two and I know the order of the middle of the main set is off) but that's the quick and dirty of it for ya. I hope everyone else who went enjoyed it as much as I did!
