I just lived at home first year. So I feel like I missed out on that whole a experience a little as well. But then all the boys are premies, so I don't really care.

If you have a single room you can be alone any time you like by shutting your door and maybe putting up a sign that says you're sleeping or studying. Don't know about roommates, never had one.

If my room door is closed, they always knock very softly. If I don't want to see them I don't have to. Except if you have a room roommate that is really annoying, they can just come in whenever they want, obviously. I like my alone time, but I really don't mind having a room roommate. It keeps me from being too much of a hermit.

living in res is the best,

I met so many interesting people, I took full advantage of the cafeteria's all you can eat meal plan, and i dont know how helpfull it was having 4 other people on the floor taking the same courses.

And even if you dont have your own washroom its not so bad. I lucked out and just had a random sink in my room, showers and toilets were down the hall.

So do the other rooms have sinks?

How about a chair in the cupboard?

Are you applying to a university, John? If so which ones?

I know in Canada you generally pay about double regular tuition. I'm sure Kimmy could help you out with that since she goes to McGill but is from the states.

Canadian universities have a local rate and an international rate. The international rate anywhere will be higher than the canadian one but still a lot less than you'd pay at an american school.

Also, schools in Quebec have an even lower rate for native quebecers, but that's not really relevant to you i guess. I think undergraduate Arts at Mcgill per term is something like:

Out-of-province Canadians: $4,400
Quebecers: $1,700
International (including US): $11,000

all figures CDN, natch.
