The album is amazing. Not as many heavy songs as their first release, but this album is definitely a must buy for anyone who's even remotely a fan.

Doesn't Remind Me, is almost guaranteed to be a single.

I also really love the style of The Curse.

But I could go on forever about more songs such as Dandelion, Yesterday To Tomorrow and I admit I was wrong about their second single Your Time Has Come. It's already grown on me.

Out of Exile was #1 on the billboard 200 this week.

EDIT: And I think I heard Doesn't Remind Me is going to be their next single.

Actually, before the album release they were trying to get the official site to have one million hits to unlock the song YOUR TIME HAS COME for download. They also stated that this would be the 2nd single from the album in emails to the mailing list subscribers etc... So unless they changed their mind, Your Time Has Come should still be the next single.

I think the first record was a little better than Out of Exile.

It was, but Out Of Exile really grows on you.

IN MORE RECENT NEWS, (I am actually reviving this thread for a reason)

I just received an email from the Audioslave mailing list informing me that Audioslave has just finished recording their THIRD album and to expect it's release SOON.

How soon?

It doesn't say.

Crazy, their last album was released in may of '05.

Wow, those guys are on a roll. That's like an album a year.

They're psycho.

But Chris Cornell's voice turns me on. Ever hear him do Mission from his solo album? Yeah, that's my sex song.

Agreed.

Seriously. Sex song. Put it on and it'll horn you up.

I think I have the first line wrong but the rest is right.

I wanna ride on the wings of your breathing
Writhe in your calm and provide your release
Wait until you're wanting you're needing
And reside in the heart of your strongest belief
Tear all your temples down
I'm on a mission now

I knew about the 3rd album in the works before I looked at this thread and I can't wait for it. But when I saw the title, I was like "wow, there's a tour too?!?!" Tom Morello is probably the best guitarist I've ever seen live so I'd love to see them again. Then I was like "Oh, this thread was started like a year ago."

Seriously though, I'm sure a tour will come soon enough with the new album on the way. Nothing from the new album has leaked yet, has it?

I've been listening to the new single for a few days now.

You can hear it at http://www.audioslave.com

It's cool, I love the 70's rock vibe they're going for.

As Morello put it, it's Led Zeppelin meets Earth, Wind and Fire.

It's pretty good. It'll probably have to grow on me a little though.

I bought this yesterday and finally got a chance to listen today. I found myself very bored early on, and never really regained interest. I'm going to let it run in my cd player coming home from work this week and see if it grows on me any. Otherwise, I'm initially disappointed. I feel like they were going for a new sound, and just didn't capture it. I'll have to read the lyrics to see if I can get into the message of the album...if there is one.

Yes it is. And Matt, it grows on you. There are some really boring songs though, but other really awesome ones with old school soundgarden sounding guitar riffs, not so much the rage sounding guitar effects like the typical audioslave sound. Right now I really love the songs Revelations, Sound of a gun and shape of things to come. Also, Jewel of the Summertime is totally soundgarden sounding, particularly Down On The Upside. Good song.

I hate how bad Broken City is though.

Broken City and Jewel of the Summertime were the two weakest songs on the album to me. After listening to it a while it has grown on me. I think a lot of the guitar riffs sound very recycled, like they were cut out of past songs and pasted into new ones. I love Sound of a Gun, but the guitar in the chorus sounds like it was ripped out of Show Me How to Live. Otherwise, the album puts me in mind of some of the stuff Jimi Hendrix did with Buddy Miles and Billy Cox. When Tim and Tom play the same lines on bass and guitar it sounds much like Band of Gypsys, when Hendrix and Cox would play in that same manner. Revalations is good, and I think it would be a great radio single, along with Somedays. Moth is also one of my favorites. I like the fact that they didn't go for the same old sound. They tried for the funk/rock fusion sound of the early 70's, but still have a very distinct sound that makes them identifiable.
