Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth"

Serious discussion area.

I think I might re-read the series. It's been so long since I read WFR...

After starting (and re-loving) WFR, I realized how long this frigging series is. So I'll just re-read WFR for now, then move on to something new.

Seriously, though. I love this series to death.

Thanks, Alex.

Re-reading this series is helping me a lot. I'm finding quite a few things relatable to my own life. I think I'm able to reflect on things more now since I know the story itself already.

For instance, thinking about school next year, and how if I go back, I could be like Warren. You see, I was going to school because I felt like I had to. Warren studied at the Palace because he wore a Rada'Han. When Warren was free of the collar, he still wanted to stay at the Palace to continue studying prophecy. Except then we would be there by choice. Imagine how liberating that would be.

That's what I'm hoping for next year.

Also, kind of hoping that Fuer Grissa Ost Drauka doesn't come along and destroy Queen's...

Yeah my main love of these books is the sort of philosophical thinking that you can't help but be inspired to. Goodkind's writing itself is a bit... vapid, at times. But it is so worth it.

Damnnnn I wanna read this :(

So true. Taken at face value, the books (WFR in particular) are average at best. But there's so much more.

Also, after reading some of the series again, Chainfire isn't as good as I originally said. It is, however, good enough to get me excited to the point where I thought it was the best.

To me, it seems like the Chainfire series is going to be more like one long novel in three easily divisible parts (a true trilogy). Chainfire was somewhat lacking in the number of significant events (as opposed to WFR, which had many significant events in one novel), and focuses more focusedly on fewer events, which is why I think I was so much more drawn in emotionally.

I was considering an avatar/sig change, looking for images, when I found this:

Image

In the review of the book, the first words are "Stone of Tears". The rest I don't understand.

Who the hell? Du Chaillu? A mud person? Whatever it is, I find it amusing.

As a side note, I found nothing of any use. Although, there are some neat images here: http://www.3dpoetry.com/wallpaperswordtruth.php I particularily like Prelate's Wrath.

Yeah, the only woman mud person ever painted up like that for the Spirit House was, well, Kahlan  And that's obviously not her. so I think it's either Du Chaillu or a confused artist.

Even if it is Du Chaillu, it's still one confused artist.

Or, it's an artist who knows what's he's doing, and a horrible translation.

speaking of confused artists:

a) why is richard naked?
b) why is nicci wearing PANTS?
c) why is berdine a platinum blonde instead of, you know, a dark brunette?
d) why the fuck is the sword of truth coming out of a LAKE? are we in the wrong book here?
e) why is more than one tower of perdition visible at a time?
f) WHY IS KAHLAN BLONDE AS WELL?
g) who are the chicks with the wings on their heads manning the dominie dirtch?

Also, Cara looks like the disturbing love-child of Julia Roberts and Angelina Jolie

lmfao, I know!

The blonde Kahlan pissed me off the most.

Also, the red leather missing the star and crescent.

Got bored. Scanned and coloured the sword.

It was surprisingly hard, since ink doesn't make a straight line on paper...

I think the glowing of the sword turned white would have looked better on an actual sword, instead of the thick black outlined drawing.

Blood of the Fold was much better the second time around (I didn't like it much the first time). I was able to be more absorbed in the long speeches and decisions with agonizingly large consequences.

Hot graphic Robbo!

Blood of the Fold is one of my less favourite books, along with Stone of Tears. But DAMMNN did he make up for it with Temple of the Winds  That and Faith of the Fallen are teh shit. Pillars of Creation I didn't care for because it was SUCH a divergence from the main storylines that you'd come to care about, but I think Naked Empire compensated for that

Exactly. POC was a little painful because the whole time I was just thinking "okay, Richard has to be in the next chapter..." or "Where the hell is Zedd during all of this?!?"

Starting Temple of the Winds now.

Guess what I bought today :D

Chainfire (in hardcover- I caved, ok?) for 30% off
And Debt Of Bones (which I haven't read either) for $3.99
And if you buy both there's a $4 mail-in rebate so basically DoB was free :D

Nice!

Debt of Bones for 3.99?!?

I got raped on that one (hardcover, though). I just checked, and it doesn't have the price inside (it looks like the corner of the jacket was cut off... :wtf: ), but I remember it being well over $20. Probably more.

Finishing Temple of the Winds again now (only 20 or so pages to go - I'll finish it on my lunch break tomorrow).

And once again, it was rapture.
