Poetry, while it did not dominate the Victorian Age, was nonetheless very important. Poetry expressed the emotions of the age where novels and books could not. They expressed often discontent with the industrialization and the continued alienation from nature. One characteristic that defined Victorian poetry was that there was no set mould for the Victorian poet. They started out emulating Romantic era poetry, but broke away from this set path soon, excersizing liberty to write whatever they felt like. Poetry of this age was incredibly diverse and any attempt to group artists together failed, as poets felt freer to express themselves in any way they want and any style they want. The works written by the authors in the Victorian times were a very accurate depiction of 19th century life in the seemingly fast paced world that was Victorian England and gives us an insight into how people felt about the age they were living in.

You know, I've, I've never heard anyone make that joke before. Hmm. You're the first. I've never heard anyone reference, reference that outside the program before.
