I'm kinda confused. I thought Adelle was the mole, and now I don't understand how she pulled it off if she wasn't. Did she just get Ivy to sneak around for her?
I think there are two moles. There's Dominic, who was working to make sure Adelle didn't fuck everything up with the Dollhouse, since the government apparently has some stake in its survival (possibly as testing grounds for technology they're working with?).
And then there's the mole who keeps sending Ballard actives imprinted with helpful information. We don't know who that one is.
I don't understand your question fully, though. What do you mean, how she pulled it off? Pulled what off?

Getting Victor to come romance her without Topher's knowledge. He'd be the one making the imprint, so if part of it was "ditch old lady, change cars and go bone Adelle", then he would have had to program it in. Yet he had no idea where Adelle was, and continued to make jokes about the lonely old lady. So either she maybe gave Ivy a bonus to sneak that into the imprint when Topher wasn't looking, or she's in league with whoever is editing the programs via chip.
Although, now that I'm thinking it out, I suppose it's possible that she set it up without having to write it into his programming.

Ah, I see. I'm thinking that they just had Topher program Victor with feelings for someone who happened to match Adelle's description, but not in such a way that would lead someone to think it's her. Hence why she goes by the name Katherine when he's with her. "When Victor sees this woman named Katherine, who will be at this house at this time and day, he will be in love with her."

But it seemed awfully sneaky. Having his handler drop him off with the old lady who everyone assumes is the client, then he gets in a fancy car and drives off to their secret meeting spot. I was wondering how he would know to do that if it wasn't in his programming.
I think the name difference is probably because the actives get chatty with their handlers.

i also don't know what was up with the old lady, but i loved this episode. after the whole "closure" thing they had going in the last episode, it was worrying because it was almost like they were trying to end things. this episode dispelled that feeling a bit. also, it was just an awesome episode.

It's a longshot but does anyone know what the symbols on Agent Ballards T-shirt were?
I know Joss had a thing for Manderin in Firefly. Just wondering if this is another little Easter Egg if you will.

The back of his shirt kind of made me laugh, because it just said "JAPAN" in Japanese. Dunno about the sleeves, though. I didn't get a look, and anyway, I can't read Japanese.
I can read some Chinese, though, so maybe that would help. I'll go back and look now.
Okay, I'm not sure, but I think his sleeve says "TOKYO." Maybe Ballard did some traveling in his day?

Whedon and Dushku both seem hopeful for a renewal
We also talked about next season, they called me specifically to say we've been hearing you sound a little despondent, being very clear about this, the show is not cancelled. The numbers have been soft, but the demographic is wonderful. DVR is great, they [FOX] are big fans of the show and they're waiting to see what happens, so now I've gone from a place that's sort of ehhhhhh, they don't even care, no one loves me, to a place of - God, I can't believe I'm saying this...hope.
We might get the chance to do the thing we're dying to do which is tell more of these stories with these crazy people because we have so many more yet to come. So basically It's about what happens in the next few weeks. We have a few more episodes coming up whether it's 12 or 13 and they are fierce, they are ridiculous I'm so proud of them. I know that we're gonna go out of this season with a bang and hopefully get to come back for #2.

and
Dushku also echoed, pun intended, series creator Joss Whedon's sentiments that Fox is still taking note of the show's performance for the remainder of the season.
"There've been some changes inside Fox I don't know if you're aware of," Dushku said. "I think Friday nights were a difficult night. Now we have Prison Break coming in, and we've been keeping our audience. It's not just a Nielsen world anymore. They factor in DVR. They factor in iTunes and Hulu, and we seem to have a pretty rich, pretty strong fan base. People are really getting into the show and [creating good] word of mouth, and the shows are getting more and more complicated and twisted. I feel like people are talking about it even more, and hopefully that gets back to the folks at Fox."

Oh man, I was really confused there, until I realized I haven't watched last week's yet apparently. Oy, now I've spoiled myself!

Yeah, after Joss and Eliza's comments, I'm feeling a little better. And apparently both sides really want to keep Dollhouse--the network because some top execs really love the show, and the studio because Joss gets great DVD sales. So they just need to find a way to make a profit from it, most likely by getting the studio to say, "We will sell this show to you for a bajillion times cheaper than usual."

No, they're skipping a week because Prison Break is coming back, so they gave it two hours tonight. Dollhouse will return next Friday (4/24). With an episode written by Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, and Jane Espenson, so I expect it to be awesome.
