wow, wow, wow!!! I just watched the 5000m women's speedskating event.
And Clara Hughes from Canada got gold!
And Cindy Klassen got her 5th medal in Turin - a bronze in this event. From the CBC: "Klassen was, unquestionably, the story of the Games, departing Turin as Canada's most prolific Olympian ever. Klassen is the first Canadian athlete to win five medals in a single Olympics and the first with six overall. "
Yay Canada!!
I'm so amazed and proud at all the Canadian women who have done so well this year!!!

It was actually kind of cool. The whole town just like stopped to watch this game. In every workplace there was a television set up. And all the schools closed at 12 to send kids home to watch the game. No one was out. Everyone was just like obsessed with curling for that 2 hour period.

my colleague's son won a bronze medal... it's pretty cool. It was posted on the company intranet with a profile about him, his past successes, information about the family, etc. So 300,000 people in the company are celebrating this as a win in "our family".

I should clarify... those 300,000 employees are worldwide... only 10,000 of those are in Canada.

And Cindy Klassen will carry the flag in the closing ceremonies today.
I can't wait for 2010 in Vancouver - I definitely want to take a week of vacation to go! I've only been as far west as Calgary & Canmore so this is the perfect excuse to finally get to BC
