oh wait, they've changed their minds. I hate when they predict seats based on only a handful of polling stations reporting.

Yes yes, I'm just talking to myself

Sweet. Minority is the way to be if it must be conservatives.

I learned a lot about my parents tonight. It appears, I had thought them to be people they were. I knew they voted conservative, but when I brought up same-sex rights, they both agreed that same-sex couples should not have the right to marry because marriage should be a union between a man and a woman. My dad also tried to say that same-sex couples should not get common-law status even, because of the possibility to abuse it. Then my mom tried to throw some out of date laws at me as justification, which I parried and they just shrugged me off and told me that my views would change. Then they put down my own views and opinions. I always thought they supported equality and respected my views. I've never felt so let down before. My dad even told me that minority groups shouldn't matter and it was only the majority that mattered, and the minority groups could leave if they didn't like it. I don't think I've ever watched someone fall so much in my eyes before, it was saddening.

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

Rusty - I know the feeling... I'm left feeling like that every time I talk politics with my parents. My dad thinks we should have no immigration, but if people come to Canada they should have to live where we tell them (e.g. nunavut), and how we tell them (e.g. can't practise own religions, wear headscarves, etc), he thinks the US should just level Iraq and make it a new US state, gay people should be outcast, etc.

Urgh!!

Ir sucks doesn't it Kathy? I actually called him on his minority comment.

Me: Why don't we just take away the rights to all minorities? I mean if they don't matter.
Dad: Exactly.
Me: So you believe that all black people, asians, jews, muslims, etc. etc. should not be allowed to marry then?
Dad: Uh no. They're all men and women, so they can get married. Marriage should be strictly between a man and a woman.

I could understand if he was religious, but he's an athiest I believe. So *sigh*

155 is the magic number for a majority gov't... as long as the Reform-in-disguise party doesn't get that many I think they can hopefully be kept in line by the other parties. It will be interesting to see which parties band together in the House.

[23:34] <Axtech> FINALLY GEORGE ET AL!
[23:34] <Axtech> AND MATT!
[23:34] <Axtech> FIRST!
[23:34] <Axtech> aww
[23:35] <Axtech> he only got to say one thing
[23:35] <Axtech> and it was something he already said on his blog
[23:37] <Axtech> George: Well Matt, what do think?
Matt: *looking pissed/disappointed*
George and others: *laughter*
Matt: *chuckle* well, *looking pissed again* It was really a referendum on the sponsorship scandal anyways, so I'm not surprised by the outcome.
George: and you? *to the girl next to matt*
Girl: At the same time, I don't think anyone should be rewarded for stealing from the Canadian people.
Matt: *bursts out laughing*

and that was about the extent of his participation... :\ Jer didn't say anything at all. In fact, I didn't see him there this time, so he may have left early...

Pending some kind of bizarre error, the conservatives have a minority government.

I really wish he'd had a chance to say more.

I am, however, looking forward to a blog rant about it. :D
