Alot of people define JW as a cult, but they think the world is coming to an end, soon, and that they need to save as many people as possible before it does. So in their minds, they're bettering society...

Its funny someone mentioned Catholics not believing themselves to be Christians... I find this funny because the Roman Catholic Church is the original Christian Church(as all of you know).

I have never ever called myself Christian, always Catholic(and I find this with most Catholics I know as well). But I am aware of the fact that Catholocism is a Christian Religion. I never thought it wasn't for a second.

No...I think Yannic said that some people don't think Catholocism should be classified as Catholic. I'm pretty sure most Catholics think of themselves as Christian.

Cass'
It's funny to see my name like that...for some reason.

I'm Robbonian, I change my mind!

That is something I never knew about JW. That seems kind of odd since they use the Bible. So, Taylor. Have you changed your mind about Mormons, or are we still not Christian? Because we do believe Christ is the savior...and we do believe in every principle in the Bible. We just differ on who exactly Christ was, and probably alot of other things too

Oh we differ on a lot of different views.. If someone were to ask me what religous belief you held, i'd say you were Mormon. For the sake of clarity, if nothing else. The government may consider you Christian, and this board may consider you Christian but to me you're Mormon. Now whether you want to call me a Protestant or a Baptist rather than a Christian is up to you. I'm fine with either.

Well I'd call myself a Mormon too. I mean, if someone was going to ask me what I was, I'd say Cassie, not a human being. It would look like I was trying hard to hide something.

I think I should start a thread about common misconceptions about Mormons. They had this thing on this weekend and these two members went around the nation asking people question, and it seems the majority of the nation thinks we are polygamous amish folk.

Other than that, you accept Jesus as the Messiah, so meh.

No....we don't think that. We don't you know...worry about that. If someone asked, I suppose the doctrine would be that we just don't know if Jesus was ever married. But I have NEVER heard of anyone thinking Jesus was polygamous.

Again, this is utterly contradictory. What do you mean? The only way i can see that sentence as making sence is if you're of the belief that Monotheistic religion is society and others are the rest of the world.

There isn't even a single "soceity", so i'm not sure how that sentence even makes sence. Any Soc. student will tell you that our world is made up many cultures and socities. And even sub-cultures and counter-cultures within those. What i was saying is that in the majority of the worlds socities, outside monotheistic society, accepted homosexuality. Many people are not aware of this and find it hard to believe because Abrahamic Religious views are now so ingrained in our everday life. Ask your history professors or religion prof.'s how many students are utterly shocked by homosexuality in the ancient and non-western world.

Is the church of Robbo a cult?

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

Okay Sean, Enlighten me. Where was homosexuality accepted and practiced in well known and established societies in the world? Those are the societies I am talking about, so do tell.

why do they have to be well-known and established?

and what's your definition of established? there are many tribes in africa that have developed socities and ways of life, but they probably wouldn't make the cut as 'established'. what makes our society more important?

I'm gonna have to say that I've learned many times that homosexuality was revered and totally endorsed in almost every society at one time. Rome, Greece...etc.

I don't mean there, I mean within the last 200 years. And Yannic, An african tribe can be established. I don't mean technological, just functioning.
