Raine said there could be a single dropping in nov, but considering that there is no updates to the site geared towards a new single or album i doubt we'll have a single this month. . . I hope im wrong though

I'll spend my time trying to fathom why Trapeze never made an album.

It could have replaced "Shaking" and made the album stronger. OLP sometimes makes bizarre decisions (like leaving Vampires off HIPT and never releasing it)

Yeah, but you guys have to remember that they were under contract with a record label and working with producers that wanted certain things. They didn't really have a lot of say in what made the final cut. There were 43 songs recorded for HIPT.... I'm sure a lot of them are amazing but we've never heard them and according to Jeremy, they don't own the masters so they can't really release them. Jer also said if they were at a place where they were releasing B sides that means they've got nothing new left to offer. So it's better not to hear them for a while. I'd rather have them working together as a band than releasing old stuff....

It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

Well I agree with that. and I also see how their label would really make decisions regarding what is released, but it still seems ludicrous in hindsight to shelve these songs in favour of much inferior work IMO.

I wonder what the band would have to say about it... Hopefully one day we get to hear these songs. Even if they are online or whatever. As a die-hard fan I'd love to hear some of them.

Hasn't Raine been saying that they have all the rights back?

I'm under the impression that they own everything OLP now.

No he was saying they had the rights to the .com site but I don't think the other stuff... unless I missed something.

Yeah they definitely don't have exclusive rights to any of their material from 1994–2005, that's Sony's material. If a B-sides is released it will have to be through Sony and with their consent.

Sony at least partially owns Burn Burn as well, but for Album 8 I'm not sure that Sony is involved at all.

Yeah, I dunno. It seems pretty quiet in the OLP world; The band members and TW. I'm not sure what to expect.

Looks like they're spending most of their time working on the Occupy movement lately, so thats probably the leading cause in lag on the new albums progress.

I don't think they've collectively done a whole lot with OWS physically, lately. But I could be wrong.

Raine did mention that he would be at Occupy Vancouver this weekend but I don't think there was anything other than that.

We know that they take breaks between sessions so I'm not surprised we haven't heard anything in a while.

Also, Chantal has been back and forth a lot the last few weeks for shows, fundraisers, and the Canada Goose campaign she's been working on.... I know they alternate schedules so the kids have parent time and not just nannies So I'm sure they're working around that too.

I'm guessing if Trusty knew something he'd
A: Tell Us
OR
B: Tell us he knows something that he can't tell us.... he likes to mess with people because silence just isn't as much fun!
