So apparently 33% of my Study of Language final is going to be on how well we can sell the point that linguistics should be taught in elementary schools

it shouldn't be too bad, but still, it's like... "how well can you regurgitate our department's propaganda?" that... it doesn't... should that really be what the final exam is based on?

you know, people ask me what the point of linguistics is, and i find myself unable to tell them. and then last night someone asked me exacly what phonology is, and i'm not really certain of that either. i really hope that isn't a question on my final thursday.

Which sounds a language uses out of all the possible speech sounds people can make... and the rules that govern the context of these sounds!

nope just 201 for me, i figured i'd figure out the point of the major when i was finished getting it.
in other news, i just alighted upon the most amazing thing! i pulled a box of fillo dough out of the freezer and the package reads: "Fillo Pastry Dough - Light, Flaky, and Easy to Use!" does that description bring a skinny blonde ditz to mind for anyone else?
