Matthew Good and Matthew Good Band are the best I saw their last concert in Vancouver for the Matthew Good Band such a good band live!im hopefully getting tickets next time hes in consert for my sister, my dad and myself...it was my dad that got us in to him, well more my uncle, cause he works with Matt's brother Chris...Anyways, I really like this new album, its alot more rock, its still light rock but, there seems to be more energy than his last album. Good news, his lyrics still kick ass! My fav. CD would have to be...Beautiful Midnight, oh and defying_gravity... its great heard on the piano, my friend taught it too me :-), I kinda forget it but if I had a piano...

Yes, my bad. If Matt played Tennessee, I think he could get over with the crowds by using the pedal steel. *continues waiting on Tennessee tour dates*

posted by matt on the metro yesterday

"I was self taught. I started playing guitar when I was 20, I started writing songs at the same time pretty much. Piano I still don't know how to play properly, I simply write parts for the piano and sit at one until I can play that specific part perfectly. Most of it happens in my head to begin with and I simply do my best to recreate it as best I can. Most of the time I would say I end up with 60% of what I originally heard in my head as the finished product.

I went to the Vancouver school of music as a child for violin. I stopped when I was 13 and began when I was 6 or so.

I do not know how to read or write music, I never really paid attention.

As for song writing, I have always done the majority of it myself. On every record with the band I split one song evenly as a morale thing mostly, the same goes for Dave's splits, they were basically political in nature as well. That was probably the main reason the band split up, after a while I just couldn't bring myself to give someone 25% of my work when they showed up for an hour at the end of the process and made some mediocre suggestions. I suppose if the guys in the band actually tried to be a real part of the process it would have been different, but that was never the case. For the most part I wrote for 14 hours a day and everyone wanted to take the credit while they sat at home, smoked dope, and played video games. I think post-mgb has pretty much proved that to be largely true.

Symbolistic wasn't remixed by anyone actually, it was mixed once and there never was a demo of it. There were never demos done of any of the songs on Ghetto.

These days I write on acoustic, electric through a tiny fender bullet amp, and a Micro Korg. I demo on pro tools.

Hope that helps. "

So I found the Audio of Being CD with the "a pleasurable headache?" lyrics booklet (which has the lyrics from the four mgb albums and the three EPs) in a used bookstore (which obviously also sold used CDs) for only $8.99. I'm ever so pleased.

I found it at a used store for 10 a couple years back. I couldn't pass on it since it had the booklet.
