Kevin Fox played on the last album, and on tour with Raine. He also plays on tour with Chantal.

Awesome news. I didn't hear the part about 4-5 weeks though..must have missed it. We got to hear yet another 'best OLP album to date' claim from Raine. I thought the part about Jason Lader was interesting. It wasn't necessarily anything new, but the way Raine explained his contributions definitely shed some new light. In a nutshell, he basically said that they had done some recording and played some of it for Jason and received a pretty poor reaction. Jason said something to the effect of "you don't listen to this crap so why are you making the same stuff." That's when they decided to challenge themselves further.
I wonder if the material recorded was akin to Burn Burn. Either way, I'm sure Jason felt that they weren't pushing themselves enough.
Awesome interview! Just heard it... link here:

I was wondering the same thing.
Whats the story being this Jason guy? Raine said he was an LA producer in the interview? Whats the bands history with him?

A few people on here would probably give you a more detailed history, but I'm fairly certain Raine has been friends with him for awhile. I know he did some engineering/editing for them on HIPT as well.[/quote]
I read somewhere that he also played guitar on one of the 5000 HIPT songs that didn't make the album.
He's produced songs for a lot of bands like Mars Volta. It's my understanding that the guys were a just looking for a second opinion on what they'd already recorded. Maybe they were getting frustrated? So Raine asked him to come listen and give them feedback since he's known him a long time and respects his opinion.

Raine: Hey man, wanna check out some of our new stuff?
Jason: Sure, man.
*Listens*
Jason: What the shit? Do you listen to this kinda of crap?
Raine: ... Naw, Not really.
Jason: Well, make shit you want to listen to dammit!
Raine: ... You insulted me in my own house. Nobody will hear you scream in this soundproof studio.
Jason: ...
Raine: But You're right. Let's start over.
That's how I imagine it went down.
But yeah,

He's produced singles for Maroon 5 (not the greatest example) and Radiohead.
He played bass guitar on Chantals album "Ghost Stories."
Jason: Sure, man.

Hahaha That's similar to what Raine said on Dean Blundell. Surly 1997 Raine came out of hiding for a moment... lol

Wikipedia's wrong, Nigel Godrich is the only producer Radiohead has released music with since 1997. It looks like Jason was the audio mixer on an album called Give Up the Ghost by Brandi Carlile.

oh hey there. good interview with dean huh?
anyways to answer some questions.... jason is like one of those wondermusician dudes, can play anything, does play everything and is just a cool hip LA producer dude...very talented very knowledgeable and a very interesting fellow.
He actually toured with mars volta as the bass player, produced noah and the whale as well julian casablancas solo disk...oh and as mentioned maroon 5 too....He is a long time friend of raines and the rest of the guys and is also sort of rick rubins prodigy type guy (notice the beard? hehe)
Anyways hes a great dude and he PUSHES the guys HARD! i have been there when it happens and I think hes got a really good sense of who the guys are, what their strengths are and what they are trying to create with this new record. He is deff a positive when it comes to OLP and totally gets everyone to think outside of the box. I really think his contributions will be felt on this new record....felt and appreciated by the fans
So yeah
oh yeah and this new website is done, im just waiting on the final ok from the guys and then its time for a couple days of testing and any final tweaks and then it shall be unleashed on the world.

Oh and of course there will be some new audio to compliment the nice new kick ass design...i mentioned that part already, right?
