New Album in 2012 - "Curve" April 3rd
Both songs are SM era songs, surprisingly. OTIF was created in soundcheck and finally brought to maturation during the 2003 tour supporting Gravity. Whatever created as the theme song used by deceased pro-wrestler Chris Benoit when he walked to the ring. The music was based off of an instrumental piece by WWE music director Jim Johnson. The song was played regularly during the late 2001 tour, up through the end of the 2003 tour. After that the song was dropped from the set. In 2007 Benoit murdered his wife and son, and hanged himself. Whatever will likely never ever be played live again. The studio version of the song is available on the album WWF: Forceable Entry.
OTIF is thought to have been made in the same vein as Whatever. There has never been a studio version released. The song was last played at the end of the 2003 US tour, before the band toured Europe.

Whatever:
"Whatever" was written and recorded by the band in 2001 as the theme music for WWF/WWE wrestler Chris Benoit. The song was based on a riff/demo song by James Johnston also written for the WWF. In concert, the band played it pretty frequently from May, 2001 until the end of the Gravity and Live tours in 2003. If there's 1 song in their catalog that they're never going to play again, it's probably this one due to what ultimately happened with Mr. Benoit.
A demo of the song was fully recorded and completed while Mike Turner was still in the band, either before they started working with Bob Rock or as one of the few songs they recorded with Bob before they decided to record an entire album together. They were happy enough with the demo, or just too busy, that they they didn't re-record it and the demo was released on the compilation "WWF Forceable Entry" in early 2002, after Mike left the band but before Gravity was released.
Our Time Is Fading:
The music (but not most of the lyrics) to this song also date back to 2001. It was performed once while Mike Turner was still in the band, on the last night of touring for Spiritual Machines. Raine borrowed lyrics from "Julia" for this performance.
After Gravity was released and the band was touring again with Steve, they took a few days off from touring to record the song for possible inclusion on the soundtrack to the movie Daredevil. At this point it had the tentative title "The End Always Comes Last." This was around the end of September, 2002. The studio recording was never released (not sure if it was finished) and dropped off the radar until November when they debuted the song (now called "Our Time Is Fading"). They played it regularly through February, 2003, and a few more times in later 2003.
Since they were both floating around before Gravity, I would say their sound is more related to what the band was trying between Spiritual Machines and Gravity, although Steve certainly may have influenced the final version of Our Time Is Fading.
There are some other songs from the time between Gravity and HIPT that may give you an idea of what might have been:
live recordings:
Not Afraid (there's a great live debut version from the Junos awards show)
Talk Is Cheap
No Warning
Wipe That Smile Off Your Face (guitar version)
Walking In Circles (different riff)
studio recordings:
Not Afraid
Vampires (there's just a short clip available)

oh hey there monkeys -sorry for lack of updates, been a hectic few weeks!!!
olp.com - its done and i shipped it off to one of my developers to optimize the code and squish any platform/browser bugs - should have it all back in a couple days - I have 5 testers selected, once I have the optimized site uploaded and rocking I will send them the info. Hoping that will only take a few days to do and then we can launch it!!!!!
viper room - I will be filming this show - in what capacity we still have to see
As mentioned already this venue is SUPER tight on recording and requires payment to do so on a per camera basis - so yeah that along with the size of the venue/stage caused my initial plan for a full on 4 camera shoot to get axed.
Studio - I will be sitting in on this 'last' session and documenting it as well as gathering some last remaining content so that if the day comes we will have a nice little documentary about the recording process/new record
Live Streams - I will see if we can get one or two of these things going again. I know the guys are busy so I dont want to interfere with that, so will have to play it by ear.
Other than that we have been working really hard to gather up a bunch of new content, new ideas and take advantage of a ton of this new social tech that is out there for you fans - I think moving forward you are going to see a lot more content and get to see a different side of OLP then you have seen before. Exciting stuff is in the works for sure, now its just a matter of building, creating and deploying it all.

I'm not sure if there's too much of a story. I think that was just a little something they did during the Gravity tour... Raine would play that acoustic bit and sing different ad-lib lyrics most nights, but sometimes I think he just used (or slightly modified) existing lyrics from Is Anybody Home.
Sometimes it was really short, just 15 or 20 seconds; other times it would be extended out to 1 1/2 or 2 minutes.
I'd actually totally forgotten about that until you asked. It was a cool moment during the show, even though their setlist didn't change too much from show to show on that tour there were still a few things like this that would be a bit different each night.

Do these people already know? If so, I'm sad. Right through the heart, T.
I hope they haven't been notified yet.

“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

I probably have this on my desktop at home. I think it was on the UltraStar version of ourladypeace.not and I captured most of their content before it was shut down... I'll check this evening.
