I just think it's weird because he used to take voice lessons from a woman who specialized in training people to sing for long periods of time.
Then again, in her book she talks about how one should avoid "vocal diarrhea" and strive for "vocal orgasms".

you have to, you just have to trust me
whoever i was then i can't ever be again
the faith you've found i've never felt
the terror held in wedding bells
the comfort in "there's no one else"
the truth be told, i'm never going to know

The song has grown on me. I like it a lot more now, but the guitar interlude still bothers me. The way Steve played the live version just sounded a lot better.
I also thing it sounds much different than Gravity, actually the production sounds cleaner to me. But I also agree that someone needs to turn the volume up on the guitar. WTF?!

That's what's bothering me most about this song. Steve IS the "in-your-face" guy they love, but this song makes him seem like an "in-the-back-of-your-head" guy they said Mike was too much of.
May I also note, positively, that the bass sounds much better than on Gravity, though? And I also think Raine sounds good, too.
This song, as we all well know, does seem like it would rock live, too.

This song has grown on me as well. I'll sing along with the chorus... but... i did that with a few of the songs on gravity (the ones that i could listen to without feeling like i should throw the cd away). With the songs from the others, i listened to the whole song and sung along with every line and just went crazy when it came to the guitar solos. This is good, but could be better

I'm thinking this song is the exception, I mean from what we've heard "Don't Ask Why" the guitarwork is more noticeable.

This article mentions Raine:

I bought her book a few years ago. Her technique is basically sound, but she uses fluffy terms to describe things.
It's not like I'm an expert or anything though.
