I don't think that people are really arguing here, but stating facts, and opinions.

Actually you can't have a discussion on anything homosexual without bringing religion into the mix. For it is the religious standpoints that are against homosexuality more then cultural standpoints.

then again, maybe I am just bias cause I am for *gay rights* and such. People are people. I hate how people say * Gay Lifestyle*. Last time I check, being gay means you sleep with the same sex. Everything else is the same as a straight person. We all want a good home, good paying job, education, friends, family, someone to love and love us back. How is that different the a Gay Person.

All my friends who are gay, have the same hopes and dreams as I do. So does that mean I live a gay lifestyle without being gay. Actually I am what you call a faghag. Straight female with homosexual male friends.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

i don't really understand the religions being against it. nowhere in the bible or anything does it say it's a sin to be homosexual....so wtf? it does, though, say things like

Marriage is honorable in all. --Heb. xiii. 4.

I always find it a little hypocritical when people say homosexuality is bad because the bible says so. Loads of men in the bible have multiply wives and that's absolutely okay, yet I haven't seen any christians fighting for polygamous marriages. Nor have I seen them protesting against eating meat on fridays.

it's their choice, if someone wants to marry someone of the same sex and it makes them happy, then best of luck to them, it doesn't me, it doesn't affect my lifestyle or anything and it makes them happy, so what should i care? it's like if things were reversed and there were more homosexual people than straight people and they were trying to ban straight marriages, what does it matter to them what straight people do? so what should it matter to straight people what gay people do?

you laugh... but now how many of you support banning smoking in public places? Furthermore, how many of you support global health care?

double standard overload.

one-eye, i thought it was your position that the majority is always right. who cares if the argument against gay marriage is logical? majority rules, right?

everytime i come into this thread, the hypocrisy of some of you blows me away. it actually makes me physically aggrivated.

don't bother trying to justify it. this is the time for you to bow your heads in shame and accept the fact that your beliefs are one giant contradiction.

That's not my position at all. :) I support majority rule, minority rights. Gay marriage falls under the latter.

but now how many of you support banning smoking in public places?

Not me. I support the right of individual property owners to decide whether or not to allow smoking on their premises. However, I also think that if tobacco's going to be legal at all, so should marijuana and other relatively "harmless" recreational drugs.

Furthermore, how many of you support global health care?

How's that related? I don't for the record, support global healthcare. I'd support government-regulated healthcare in my country, or in my community. How does this make me a hypocrite in regards to gay marriage? I fail to see the connection.

Because some people don't want to pay for fat asses that stuff their faces and then have heart attacks or strokes. Some people don't want to pay for drug users who OD and need rehab treatment. Some people don't want to pay for sluts that go and have unprotected sex and catch all sorts of diseases. Some people don't want to pay for "X-treme" athletes that choose to do asinine stunts and break every bone in their bodies. But due to a majority rule and "community healthcare" they have to take care of people who choose not to take care of themselves. If you believe in a democratic vote that determines that those who don't agree with such a policy should participate, what is wrong with a democratic vote that outlaws a gay marriage?'

And for the record.. I said "public" places... should smoking be allowed in airports/hospitals/government buildings/etc?

Also, I'd like to know where you got the idea that just because someone doesn't think a gay marriage should be legal, that means they want them all killed.

but one eye , where are those rights derived?

how come you feel gays have a "right" to marriage?

what standard are you using to determine that?

Though I don't know her exact position, I'd say that if other human beings have the right to marry, so should they.

You know, being human beings, too...

I think you just need to remember that people here are still in their teens for the most part, and most are still testing the weather when it comes to their beliefs. It's good to point out the flaws in their arguments. Hell, you made me umpteen times better at debating and writing by doing that, but there isn't a need to tell them to bow their heads in shame because they're still figuring things out for themselves.

I don't know, maybe it just came out wrong, but you don't want to scare people off from debates during a time when they're developing their own thoughts. Ya know?

-----

Anyways I really don't have much to say about this. A woman has the right to choose since it's her body, and we shouldn't be able to force beliefs upon someone.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.
